Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 383

Chapter 383

George really hated this feeling. It was like no matter what he did, he just couldn’t get close to her.

“Ophelia, I thought we were friends,” George said, his voice low, sounding a bit defeated.

He couldn’t help but let out a bitter sigh inwardly, so this is all he was to her, just a friend.

“We can be friends,” Ophelia nodded, then added, “But even as frends, there are still boundaries we shouldn’t cross.”

George’s gaze flickered for a moment. ‘Was she hinting at something?’ he wondered.

But after Ophelia finished speaking, her expression returned to its usual calmness. On closer look, George thought maybe he was just reading too much into it.

“Since you’re here, why don’t you take another look at the proposal? If you don’t have any objections to the new version, we can start moving forward with the collaboration,” Ophelia said, already back in work mode.

“Alright,” George could only agree, feeling a little helpless. Seeing her attitude, he thought to himself, ‘Guess I’ll have to keep those words to myself, at least for now.’

Once they started talking about work, the atmosphere became much more relaxed, and time just flew by.

Before they knew it, it was already lunchtime.

Ella came to get them for lunch.

As soon as they stepped out of the building, they ran into Alaric who had just shown up.

Seeing Ophelia about to leave with George, Alaric’s gaze turned cold as he sneered, “Mr. Brown, did you get a job at Maplewood Capital or something?”

‘Why do I keep running into him every time I come here? Is he planning to take up permanent residence or what?’ Alaric thought to himself.

“Mr. Caldwell, you must be joking,” George retorted coolly. “Unlike you, I don’t have the luxury of being idle. I actually have to

work.”

In other words, he was here for business, not just hanging around like Alaric, who always seemed to have way too much free time.

“Oh,” Alaric said, giving George a smug, icy look. “Even if you’re here for work, you still need to take a break sometimes. It’s lunchtime, Mr. Brown. Why don’t you go grab something to eat and chill for a bit? As for Ophelia, she’ll be coming with me.” Every time Alaric saw George hanging around Ophelia, it just pissed him off. All he wanted was to keep the two of them

apart.

“Sorry, Mr. Caldwell, but she’s not going with you,” George said, arching his brow at Alaric with a self-satisfied smirk. “We’ve already got lunch plans. Pretty sure she’s sticking with me.”

George shot Ophelia a look, clearly waiting for her to chime in.

“You two have lunch plans?” Alaric’s eyes grew cold, his tone unmistakably sour with jealousy.

‘Unbelievable, she’s got no heart at all,’ Alaric fumed inwardly. ‘She bailed on me last night and didn’t even bother to check in. I barely made it through the morning, came here hoping to see her, and now she’s off to lunch with someone else?’ “Yeah, I promised to take him out to lunch to thank him,” Ophelia said honestly. “I gave my word, so I’m not about to break it.”

“Why are you thanking him?” Alaric didn’t miss a beat, instantly picking up on what mattered most.

“He helped me out with some stuff,” Ophelia kept it vague, not bothering to explain. She checked the time and said, “We’ve got a reservation and it’s almost time, so let’s head out.”

As soon as Ophelia finished speaking, Alaric chimed in, “Alright let’s go.”

With that, he took Ophelia’s hand and started to walk away.

‘If the plans are set and can’t be changed, then I’ll just join them myself, Alaric thought.

No way was he letting George get any alone time with her, not a chance.

Ophelia’s lips twitched. ‘Did I ever say he could tag along?’ she thought.

George’s expression darkened even more, his cold

Figoers at Alaric.
