Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 384

Chapter 384

“I came to have lunch with you,” Alaric replied, his voice dropping, sounding all pitiful and aggrieved. “I couldn’t sleep last night without you, Ophelia. Didn’t even get to have breakfast with you this morning. I missed you so much. Look, I’m getting skinnier by the minute.”

“Alright, give it a rest,” Ophelia muttered, rolling her eyes. ‘Seriously? He claims he lost weight just because we didn’t see each other for one night? Even he can’t possibly believe that,’ she thought.

“So, Ophelia, are you upset that I showed up?” Alaric asked, his voice soft and tentative, clearly testing the waters. Ophelia was speechless. ‘Alaric really could win an award for acting all pitiful,’ she thought.

“Alaric, do you even care about your image at all?” Ophelia shot Him a look, clearly not interested in entertaining his antics. “If I start acting all proper, will my girlfriend love me more?” Alaric looked down at her, his tone teasing and full of meaning.

Ophelia met his gaze, confused for a second, but when she saw the playful smile in his deep eyes, she suddenly realized what he was getting at.

Her cheeks turned red, and she awkwardly dodged his eyes. “Quit it. Who said I’m your girlfriend?”

“Not my girlfriend, then…” Alaric paused on purpose, his voice dripping with flirtation. “Fiancée works too.”

Ophelia’s cheeks burned even hotter. She gave Alaric a warning glare. “If you don’t want to eat, then go back by yourself.” ‘Why does he always say this kind of thing at the worst possible moment?’ Ophelia thought, both embarrassed and annoyed.

Seeing her get all riled up, Alaric couldn’t help but smirk. ‘Guess she’s shy after all, he thought, feeling pretty pleased with himself.

As Ophelia and Alaric walked side by side, chatting quietly and sharing little secrets, George’s mood soured with every step. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Alaric was crashing their lunch on purpose, just to mess things up.

‘Of all the times to show up, he just had to pick lunchtime. Typical, George thought, getting more and more annoyed.

“Word is Caldwell Group’s been swamped lately. Funny how you still find time to just hang out here instead of actually working,” George snarked, making it clear he thought Alaric was just slacking off.

“Ophelia comes first, obviously,” Alaric replied, totally unfazed, like it was just common sense.

“Her stuff?” George frowned, confused. “What’s going on with her?”

‘Is he here because of last night too?’ George thought, suspicion flashing in his eyes.

“Just spending time with her, obviously,” Alaric gave George a look like he was totally unimpressed, then shook his head, looking genuinely sorry for him. “But hey, I guess a single guy like you just wouldn’t get it.”

George’s face grew even darker. ‘Does he ever even care if she wants him hanging around?’ he thought, his annoyance spiking.

“Mr. Caldwell, maybe next time you should actually make plans instead of just crashing other people’s lunch. Third- wheeling uninvited isn’t exactly polite,” George shot Alaric a cold warning look.

Alaric shot George a frosty glare and snapped back, “Mr. Brown just so you know, lunch break is personal time. Try not to interrupt people during their private moments, it’s called being polite.”

‘If you weren’t hanging around, Ophelia and I would already be enjoying some alone time together, Alaric grumbled to himself, getting more irritated.

‘And now he’s got the nerve to act like I’m the extra? Does he not get that he’s the real third wheel here?’ Alaric sneered inwardly.

Ella listened to the two guys bickering again, and she could feel a headache coming on.
