Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 386

Chapter 386

‘Miss him? As if! I can’t wait for him to leave,’ Ophelia grumbled inwardly.

Alaric chuckled softly, his gaze practically sparkling with doting warmth.

“Ophelia, there are still a few things from this morning we need to go over…” George tried to linger, but Ophelia just shook her head and cut him off without hesitation. “I’ll have Ella reach out to your assistant.”

Basically, she was saying: ‘No need for us to go over it again. Let someone else handle it.’

Honestly, it wasn’t anything complicated. She and George could ve sorted it out in a few minutes. But the instant she thought about it, she could feel Alaric’s whole vibe turn icy cold

Without even thinking, she shot down the idea, and as soon as she did, the tension around Alaric seemed to lighten up.

With a quiet sigh, Ophelia glared at Alaric, then turned and walked out first.

‘Now this guy can mess with my mood and choices so easily, Ophelia thought, a little annoyed.

Watching her leave, Alaric’s eyes glinted with a deep, amused smile.

“Mr. Caldwell, you seem a little too invested in Ophelia lately. You should watch yourself. Gossip like that could really hurt her image, George said, his gaze icy as he shot Alaric a warning

“Jealous, are you, Mr. Brown?” Alaric sneered, his voice full of mockery. “Why don’t you mind your own business? Some things are off-limits, so don’t even think about them.”

With that, Alaric strode off toward his car, not bothering to look back at George.

George’s eyes darkened as he watched Alaric leave. Whatever he set his sights on, he always got. Not even Alaric could stand in his way.

Meanwhile, Alaric got into his car, and it slowly pulled away.

“Mr. Caldwell, everything’s pretty much set up,” Ryan reported in a low voice.

Alaric looked up, his eyes icy cold, his voice just as frosty. “Yeah he’s got way too much free time on his hands.”

Ever since George showed up in Dunhollow, things had been going way too smoothly for him. Maybe he’d forgotten that this wasn’t a place where he could just do whatever he wanted,

“Who would’ve thought Mr. Brown would be scheming against us behind the scenes? Good thing you came back to the office, even injured, to hold down the fort. Otherwise, things could’ve gotten out of hand,” Ryan sighed, sounding resigned.

If we hadn’t caught it in time, just a couple of slip-ups could’ve thrown the whole Caldwell Group into chaos.

‘George’s playing hardball, huh,’ Ryan thought to himself.

Alaric leaned back in his seat, his gaze drifting out the window. His eyes were so dark, it was impossible to tell what he was

thinking.

Three days flew by.

“Knock, knock, knock.”

Ella knocked on Ophelia’s office door.

“Boss, Mr. Brown still hasn’t replied. I’m starting to think something might’ve happened,” Ella said, looking uneasy as she gave her update.

“What could even happen to him?” Ophelia frowned, not getting it at all. “It’s not like I’ve heard anything.”
