Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 389

Chapter 389

Ms. Rowle gave Alaric Caldwell a pained look. Seeing her silent, Ryan Brooks gently reminded her, “Ms. Rowle, let’s go.”

Ms. Rowle bit down hard on her lip, barely managing a steady ned. “Okay.”

“Mr. Caldwell, I’ll pass on your thanks to Zachary. I’ll take my leave now,” Ms. Rowle said, doing her best to remain graceful and composed as she walked away.

Once she was gone, Alaric didn’t even bother to look up. He just picked up the paperwork and buried himself in work.

Still, deep down, he couldn’t shake off a restless feeling. The person he wanted to see was nowhere in sight, but the one he’ d rather avoid kept showing up.

Ryan came back not long after walking Ms. Rowle out.

“Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Brown just pulled in some funds from Clearwater City. With this new cash flow, things should settle down soon, and the stock price won’t be an issue,” Ryan reported quietly.

They hadn’t been sitting around these past few days. Once they figured out George was the one stirring up trouble, Alaric wasted no time turning the tables, fighting fire with fire.

Honestly, George’s team must be having a hell of a week. Word was, he’d been stuck working overtime for days on end.

Ryan shook his head, sighing, “Seriously, what’s the point? Why go after Mr. Caldwell? He’s just making life harder for himself.”

Even though Ryan was muttering under his breath, Alaric still caught it, and his eyes darkened briefly.

“Keep a close eye on him. George isn’t just some random guy,” Alaric said, his voice cold and commanding. “He’s a force to be reckoned with.”

Ryan nodded, a bit more cautious now. “Got it.”

After Alaric gave a few more instructions, Ryan finally turned and left the office.

Alaric set the paperwork aside, massaged his temples briefly, then stood up and walked out of the office.

“Mr. Caldwell?” Ryan, who had just left the office himself, looked genuinely shocked.

‘Is the boss heading out? Where’s he off to?’ Ryan wondered.

“Don’t bother following me,” Alaric said coolly as he stepped into the elevator.

Ryan blinked, then caught on and couldn’t help but snicker to himself, “Bet the boss is missing Ms. Rowle. He’s probably off to New City Tower to see her.”

At New City Tower, Alaric had just reached Ophelia’s office door when, before he could even knock, the door suddenly swung open and she bumped straight into his arms.

Both of them froze, completely caught off guard.

“Boss, you two…” Ella’s voice got stuck in her throat as she stared at them in shock.

“Ophelia, were you really missing me that much? Throwing yourself at me the moment we meet?” Alaric teased, his hand tightening around her waist, a playful smile on his lips.

Ophelia snapped back to reality, shoving Alaric away with a frustrated look. “I’ve got stuff to deal with. I’m heading out,” she muttered, clearly annoyed.

She’d just received word from Rowle Manor, telling her to come back. She was in such a hurry she didn’t even notice who was outside the door. Who could’ve guessed he’d be standing right there? ‘Seriously, what are the odds?’ she thought. “Where are you off to, Ophelia?” Alaric asked, his voice growing more serious as he caught her tense expression. “Rowle Manor,” Ophelia said, shooting him a frown. “Why’d you suddenly show up? If it’s not urgent, I’ll just let Ella take care of it.”

“It’s nothing, really. I just wanted to see you because I missed you,” Alaric said straight up. “Let me come with you.” Since he’d come all this way just to see her, there was no reason for him to stick around if she was leaving. Ophelia blinked in confusion, her brows arching. She’d assumed he was here for the business project, and couldn’t help but wonder why he’d show up himself.

‘So he really came just to see me?’ she thought, still a little thrown.

‘He missed me?’ The thought left her a bit dazed.
