Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 396

Chapter 396

Ophelia lowered her head, giving a small nod. Her heart felt heavy, but she knew she had to keep her cool and stay sharp.

Ophelia hopped into the car, saying, “Let’s go.” Alaric slid in right after her.

The driver started the engine and pulled away from Rowle Mangr

Ophelia kept her head down, eyes fixed on the vial in her hand, her grandfather’s blood. She needed to get back and run the

tests ASAP.

Seeing her looking so down, Alaric’s heart ached for her.

From the moment he met her, Ophelia had always been so sure of herself, always full of confidence. He’d never seen her so

shaken before.

“Ophelia,” Alaric said, leaning his head on her shoulder, his voice a little pouty.

“Hmm?” Ophelia answered, her voice low and heavy, but she still responded to him.

Alaric said, sounding a bit helpless, “I realized something today might need your help with it in the future.”

“What is it?” Ophelia replied, her mind clearly elsewhere, barely listening to what Alaric was saying.

“Ophelia, Oliver really doesn’t like me,” Alaric complained, sounding all pitiful.

“Hmm,” Ophelia mumbled distractedly, then suddenly snapped to attention, her voice rising. “Wait, what did you just say?”

‘Oliver? What is he talking about? And why would anyone not like him?’ Ophelia wondered, totally baffled.

“I mean your eldest brother! He totally doesn’t like me, and he made it super obvious in front of your whole family. Ophelia, you have to back me up here,” Alaric said, looking so aggrieved that Ophelia couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him.

“Alaric, can you be serious for a second?” Ophelia gritted out, clearly annoyed.

‘What’s with all this nonsense all of a sudden?’ Ophelia thought, completely baffled.

“I mean it! He literally admitted it just now, downstairs,” Alaric insisted, eyes wide and earnest.

Ophelia let out a long, exasperated sigh, forcing herself to stay patient. “Alright, spill it. Why does Oliver not like you?”

“Well… probably because he’s jealous of me,” Alaric nodded with mock seriousness, looking just like a smug little kid.

Ophelia’s lips twitched; she couldn’t help but retort, “Jealous of you? Why would he be jealous of you?”

“Obviously, it’s because I landed such a perfect girlfriend, and he’s still single,” Alaric lifted his chin, looking ridiculously proud of himself.

It finally dawned on Ophelia. ‘Wait, Oliver? My eldest brother?’

‘So… does he actually think we’re a thing now?’ Ophelia’s mind spun.

‘And seriously, that’s his excuse? My brother’s single so he’s jealous of you?’ she thought, totally exasperated.

Ophelia gave Alaric a withering look. “You’re single too.”

‘Since when did I become your girlfriend?’ Ophelia thought, rolling her eyes.

“Ophelia, do you not like me anymore?” Alaric looked all wounded, sounding pitiful. “I’ve got no one but you! If you don’t back me up, your brother’s just going to pick on me even more.”

“Oh, shut up! Since when is he going to pick on you?” Ophelia smacked him on the forehead and shoved him away.
