Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 397

Chapter 397

After a while, the two of them arrived at New City Tower.

Ophelia headed straight for the lab, eager to get the test results as soon as possible.

Alaric stood at the lab door, feeling a bit frustrated after being stopped outside.

But when he saw Ophelia inside, slipping on her lab coat and focusing intently on her analysis, he couldn’t help but feel his heart melt a little.

“Mr. Caldwell,” Ryan came over and lowered his voice. “We’ve already got people looking into the doctors who treated Mr. Rowle, and we’ll be keeping tabs on them 24/7.”

“Good,” Alaric replied, his eyes darkening, his tone icy. “We need to look into the Rowle family members too. In cases like this, it’s often someone close to the victim who’s behind it.”

Just because they were family didn’t mean they were off the hook.

But Alaric knew this wasn’t something one person could pull off alone. It would take someone with real medical know-how to make it work.

“Got it,” Ryan replied, then hurried off.

Alaric glanced back into the lab, and the moment he saw Ophelia’s figure inside, his eyes were glued to her. He couldn’t tear himself away no matter how hard he tried.

Dusk was settling outside.

Ophelia rubbed her aching shoulders, then got up from her seat

She checked the time and blinked in surprise. “Oh man, I totally lost track of time.”

She happened to glance outside and caught Alaric still watching her from the hallway. Her eyes went wide. ‘Wait, he’s still here?’

After tidying up her things, Ophelia stepped out of the lab, a puzzled look on her face. “Aren’t you supposed to be at Caldwell Group?”

She honestly thought he would’ve left by now. He was always swamped with work at his company.

Alaric reached out and gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her forehead, dodging her question as he asked instead, ” Any results yet?”

“I’m starting to get somewhere, but I might have to stay up all night waiting for the results,” Ophelia sighed, trying to shake off her exhaustion.

Alaric gently took her hand and said softly, “Come on, let’s go grab something to eat first.”

‘She must be starving after working for so long, Alaric thought to himself.

Ophelia’s stomach was already protesting, so she didn’t hesitate. “Alright, let’s go,” Ophelia said.

‘Gotta eat first if I want to survive tonight’s work, she thought.

But to her surprise, instead of leaving the building, Alaric led her right to her office.

“What are we doing here?” Ophelia asked, puzzled. ‘Weren’t we supposed to get food?’ she thought.

“You’ll see once we’re inside,” Alaric said, his gaze gentle as he pushed open the office door.

Ophelia glanced up and instantly realized, he’d already set everything up for her.

“When did you order food?” Ophelia asked, surprised to see dinner waiting for her the moment she stepped out of the lab. “It just got delivered,” Alaric replied, leading her by the hand into the office. “I figured you’d be starving, and if you didn’t come out soon, I was just about to drag you out myself. You gotta eat before you get back to work.”

They sat down, and as Alaric popped open the containers, the delicious smell of food instantly filled the room.

“I gotta say, I never expected Mr. Big Shot CEO to be this thoughtful,” Ophelia joked with a teasing smile.

“You’ll see, Ophelia. The more time you spend with me, the more you’ll get to know the real me,” Alaric said with a playful smirk.

Ophelia couldn’t help but laugh, rolling her eyes at him “Come let’s just eat.”

‘Honestly, this guy can’t stay serious for more th Successfully unlocked! thought.

As they ate and chatted, all the exhaustion and the gloom that had been hanging over her all day just melted away.
