Chapter 402
Ophelia thought, ‘Making a scene here and stressing out Grandpa? They really have no clue.
“You…” Scarlett was so angry she nearly lost her composure.
She thought, ‘This damn girl is way too clever for her own good. She’s quite a handful.’
‘Miles was just about to say yes, but the moment this troublemaker walked in, everything changed.
“Alright, that’s enough. Get out. Grandpa needs a quiet place to rest,” Ophelia said, waving them off impatiently. She was basically kicking them out.
She really didn’t want to waste any more energy on them. She needed to give Miles a quick update so she could hurry back to work on the antidote.
“Butler!” Miles called for the butler, plain and simple.
The butler at Rowle Manor might seem to listen to everyone, but when it came to Grandpa Tristan, he’d drop everything for him, no matter who else was asking. Tristan’s needs always came first.
Asher’s face turned pale. If the butler kicked him out, he’d so embarrassed.
“You really don’t know what’s good for you. If you delay his treatment, that’ll be on you,” he spat, and stormed off in frustration.
Scarlett snorted and followed him out.
The room instantly went quiet, and Ophelia let out a sigh.
“Ophelia, any news on the poison?” Miles asked, his face serious.
“Yes,” Ophelia said with a nod. “I came here to talk about that.”
“We need to move fast. Looks like Uncle Asher’s about to make a move,” Miles said, worry clouding his features.
Ophelia got what Miles was hinting at, her eyes turning steely. “Indeed.”
If she’d only had doubts about her uncle Asher before, his behavior today made it crystal clear. QHe was definitely hiding something.
Even though she and Miles knew Grandpa Tristan had been poisoned, they hadn’t told anyone else.
And now, Asher was suddenly pushing to send his father overseas. There was no way he had good intentions.
‘Looks like we need to keep a closer eye on things at Rowle Manor,’ she decided.
Ophelia lowered her gaze, her voice serious, “Let’s talk about the poison first.”
No matter what they planned, the most important thing was to get Grandpa Tristan back on his feet as soon as possible.
“Take a look at this,” Ophelia said, handing Miles a report. “This is the analysis of the toxin in Grandpa Tristan’s blood. Just as I suspected, I found a rare toxin in there. Looks like it was made using some insanely complex process. And that’s what’ s keeping Grandpa unconscious.”
Miles stared at the report, his eyes cold and sharp, “They must really hate Grandpa to want him dead.”
He’d actually come across this toxin before. It was one of the things he’d been working on when he was holed up doing research.
“You know about this toxin?” Ophelia asked, a bit stunned. She’d only heard of it, but never studied it herself.
“I’ve been working on it,” Miles said, frustrated. “But I haven’t made any progress yet.”
He’d hit a bottleneck in his research, so he decided to step out of seclusion for a bit, hoping that a change of pace and maybe some new information would help him break through.
The room fell silent, and they both looked very concerned.
One had never even studied this toxin, while the other was completely stuck in his studies.
For a moment, they couldn’t help but feel lost and helpless.
“Looks like I need to dive back into my research,” Miles said after thinking about it, his tone firm as he made up his mind.
“Yeah, I’m about to start working on it too,” Ophelia replied, her eyes growing serious as she glanced at Grandpa Tristan. But I’m worried about leaving Grandpa without
thy to watch over him…”

She said, “Grandpa Tristan’s probably fine with you here, but if he’s now. else we can trust, I’m not sure he’ll be safe.”
Miles shook his head, analyzing the situation, “Honestly, it might actually be safer for Grandpa if I’m not around.”
“Why?” Ophelia asked, and then quickly put the pieces together. Wait, you mean Uncle Asher’s sudden push to send Grandpa overseas is because you’re the one taking care of him?

That actually made perfect sense. Since Miles had been watching Grandpa Tristan like a hawk, they started freaking out, worried he’d find out the real reason he was unconscious. That was probably why they were so desperate to ship him off. “That’s what I’m thinking,” Miles replied, his tone cold. “I’ll have the butler look after Grandpa. He’s the only one here we can trust.”
The butler was unwaveringly loyal to Grandpa Tristan. Seriously, he was the only trustworthy person in this whole place. “Alright,” Ophelia said with a nod. “Maybe this way they’ll finally drop their guard.”
“Alright, it’s settled,” Miles said, his eyes darkening for a moment “I’m heading back to the lab. My phone will stay on this time. If anything happens, just call me.”
“Okay,” Ophelia nodded. “I’ll head back to the lab at the office. You can call me anytime, Miles.”
They looked at each other and shared a determined nod.
Things felt tense, but they both knew that this was all or nothing
Ophelia gave Grandpa Tristan one last check-up before she and Miles left the room together.
At this time, a piercing scream suddenly ripped through the air at Rowle Manor. “Sounds like Bianca,” Miles said, looking stunned. ‘What happened?’ he thought.
Ophelia narrowed her eyes, a bad feeling creeping up inside her
“I’ll go take a look,” Ophelia said, instinctively heading toward the source of the scream.
