Chapter 405
Ophelia felt speechless and said, “Alright, alright, I believe you, okay?”
‘I didn’t even say anything. Why is he overreacting?’ she thought
But Alaric suddenly pulled her into his arms, his voice muffled, was so awesome. Don’t I deserve a reward, Ophelia?”
“Ah?” Ophelia was caught off guard, and before she could react Alaric kissed her on the lips.
Her eyes widened in shock, and she instinctively tried to push him away.
But Alaric caught her hands and pinned them behind her back, giving her no chance to escape. His kiss grew more demanding and passionate, and Ophelia felt herself melting into his arms…
It wasn’t until Alaric finally released her, thoroughly satisfied, that Ophelia’s sanity gradually returned.
She instantly blushed and glared at Alaric in mock annoyance, and then smacked him. “Alaric, are you trying to get smacked?”
Alaric caught her hand, putting on his best puppy eyes, “Ophelia I was really freaked out. I need you to comfort me.”
“I think someone else is scared out of their mind right now,” Ophelia retorted, rolling her eyes as she yanked her hand free and walked over to the window. “Hurry up and get changed. I’m leaving.”
Right now, she figured that Bianca was probably having a rougher time than anyone.
Today, Alaric had totally blown Bianca away, showing her who he really was for the first time.
He was a ruthless, cold-blooded force in the business world, and yet Bianca had the nerve to scheme against him. That took some serious guts.
But Ophelia couldn’t deny that watching Alaric handle things like that, she felt so sweet.
Ophelia went back to New City Tower.
After a lot of back-and-forth, she finally got Alaric to head over to the Caldwell Group. Now, she could finally throw herself into working on the antidote for her grandfather.
“Boss, you don’t look well. Is it really that tough?” Ella asked, her face full of concern as she put a cup of coffee on Ophelia’s desk.
Ophelia glanced at the coffee and rubbed her temples, and said “Just leave it. I don’t want it.”
Coffee was basically a trigger for her now 26
Just the sight of it made her instinctively turn away.
“Alright,” Ella said, setting the coffee aside. “You stayed up all night, Boss. Maybe you should get some rest.”
“Let me put the cultures away, and then I’ll take a break,” Ophelia replied. That way, she could squeeze in some rest while waiting for the results, no time wasted.
She’d already come up with a basic idea on her way over. She’d give it a shot first, and then tweak things as needed… Hopefully she’d figure out the antidote soon.
“Okay, let me get things ready for you, Boss. I’ll clean up the break area in the lab, so you can chill there while you wait for the results,” Ella said, heading out of the office.
Ophelia leaned back in her chair, her eyes drifting across the desk until they landed on a file.
“What’s this?” she murmured, a little surprised to see it was the file for her joint project with George.
“Wait, this hasn’t been sent to George yet?” Ophelia frowned, ‘Did something go wrong on his side?’
This had to be something serious. With how capable George was, he would’ve handled it long ago if it was anything simple.
