Chapter 406
Besides, even if they did this, they needed a really solid reason.
“Well, find someone even more established than her and make that person our new spokesperson. After that, cancel all her promotional activities. I don’t want to see any connection between our products and her, ever again,” Alaric said, his eyes cold. His coldness practically sent a chill down Ryan’s spin.
“Yes, Mr. Caldwell,” Ryan nodded, not daring to ask another question.
‘Isn’t this basically the same as dropping her as our spokesperson?’ Ryan wondered.
‘Bianca must’ve really pissed off my boss this time.’
‘Why else would he be so ruthless about her?’
Even though he was dying of curiosity, he didn’t dare ask any more questions. He quickly left the room.
Alaric leaned back in his chair with intense eyes and a subtle smile on his face.
They’d just been apart for a short while, and he already missed ophelia.
He grabbed the file on his desk, ready to dive into work. The faster he finished, the sooner he could go see her…
Three days later…
After Alaric showed up with dinner for her for the third night in a row, Ophelia finally came out of the lab.
Alaric was watching her with a teasing smile in his eyes, and Ophelia couldn’t help but feel amused. “Seriously, you don’t have to keep bringing me dinner. Ella’s got it covered,” she said.
“That’s not the same,” Alaric said, sounding proud. “This is a dinner made with love.”
Even though she was stuck in the lab, just seeing her through the glass was enough to put him at ease and make him happy.
And finally, his patience paid off. She could come out now.
Carrying the dinner box, Ophelia couldn’t help but shake her head and said, “Let’s go to the office.”
Her first round of experiments was done. It was a bust, but she’d pinpointed the reason it failed. Tomorrow, she’d be ready
to try again.
Once they got to her office, Ophelia sat down.
Alaric opened up the dinner box and took out all the food.
“I got all your favorites. Make sure you eat plenty. You’ve been running yourself ragged these past few days,” Alaric said, his tone soft with worry. He wanted to tell her to rest, but he knew she wouldn’t listen, so he just kept his concern to himself.
“It’s not that bad,” Ophelia said offhandedly, picking up the fork. I can finally go home and get some rest tonight.”
Hearing that, Alaric finally relaxed a little and said, “Yeah, you should. Go home and get some proper rest.”
‘If she keeps this up, I’m really afraid she’ll burn herself out, he thought with concern.
“So, how have you been lately?” Ophelia asked, munching away as they chatted. The vibe between them was so relaxing, and it felt like they were an old married couple.
“Work’s been smooth,” Alaric said, and then gave her a puppy-eyed look. “But I haven’t seen you, and I missed you like crazy.”
Ophelia’s relaxed smile froze, and she couldn’t help but roll her eyes and said, “You can’t even stay serious for three
seconds.”
‘Honestly, why does he have to start acting all clingy? Can we just talk like normal people?’ she thought.
