Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 407

Chapter 407

“Just shut up and eat,” Ophelia said, deliberately putting on a stern face, not wanting to watch him putting on a show.

“I’ll just watch you eat, Ophelia. Who cares about eating when nobody loves me?” Alaric flopped back on the couch, sulking like a little boy.

“Alaric,” Ophelia gritted her teeth.

“Tell me you missed me, Ophelia,” Alaric seized the moment to bargain.

Ophelia rolled her eyes at him and said, “I don’t have time.”

With that, she lowered her head and started eating. “Suit yourself.”she thought.

But Alaric’s eyes lit up like he’d just realized something. “So, that means you’d still think about me if you had some free time, right?”

Ophelia froze, totally speechless. Technically, he wasn’t wrong.

“You’re quite optimistic,” Ophelia muttered, not wanting to argue with him, but still throwing in a little jab.

Alaric chuckled and said with a doting smile, “That’s just your way of showing your love for me. Of course I can feel it.”

Ophelia blushed, and she gave Alaric a flustered glare, making it clear she was done talking to him.

Alaric smiled happily.

‘Looks like this little troublemaker is getting more and more comfortable around me,’ Alaric thought.

After dinner, Ophelia and Alaric left the New City Tower.

When they got back to the Rowle family, the living room was packed. Not only were their parents there, but Oliver and Owen were also present, and even Dylan had come home.

“Everyone’s here,” Ophelia said as she walked into the living room, greeted everyone as she sat down.

“Ophelia, how’s it going?” Adrian asked, getting straight to the point.

Even though Ophelia hadn’t been home, she’d kept everyone in the loop about what was going on.

“There’s been a little progress,” Ophelia replied, though she looked a bit gloomy.

“Don’t stress yourself out too much. We all know this is a tough situation,” Victoria said. Even though she was worried, she didn’t want Ophelia to be overwhelmed.

Ophelia nodded and said, “I’ll try my best.”

This whole thing weighed heavily on everyone’s mind, and she knew she had to be the one to solve it.

After a moment of silence, Ophelia turned to Owen, ruffled his hair and said, “Owen, you were away for so long at that international competition. I bet you did great, right?”

“Yeah, I got first place,” Owen replied, but he didn’t have his usual energy.

He’d come back in high spirits, but hearing that their grandfather was sick really dampened his mood.

“Owen, you really are the best,” Ophelia said with a smile. “As a reward, I’ll give you a software suite I built myself. It’ll greatly boost your computer skills.”

“What kind of software?” Owen asked, his curiosity sparking. He knew Ophelia was a computer whiz, but he hadn’t expected she could actually build her own programs.

“It’s a hacking program. Are you interested?” Ophelia whispered

Owen’s eyes finally lit up and he said, “Thank you, Ophelia. This is awesome.”

He’d wanted to learn it for ages, but his skills weren’t quite up to par, so he hadn’t gotten very far.

“Go get it in my room. The laptop’s yours too,” Ophelia said, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

“Okay,” Owen nodded, giving Ophelia a quick glance before heading upstairs.

He wasn’t sure what everyone was talking about, but he knew Ophelia just didn’t want him in on it.

‘I’ll just go dive into that software,’ Owen thought. ‘If I can level up fast enough, maybe they won’t keep things from me

anymore.’

After Owen left, Dylan was the first to break the silence, “Ophelia how confident are you about helping Grandpa?”

He’d heard about the situation and even canceled his overseas gig to rush home.

Right now, everyone was counting on Ophelia and Miles, and Dylan couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

Still, he tried his best to keep his cool. He didn’t want Ophelia or Miles to notice his anxiety and end up feeling even more

stressed.

“Nothing’s certain yet,” Ophelia said, shaking her head with a sign.

Dylan was usually the upbeat one in the family. Seeing him so serious made it clear just how worried everyone was about

this.

“Miles is really good at this too. You guys should talk through your plans anytime,” Dylan reminded her. “That way, you will feel supported and maybe the pressure won’t be so heavy.”

“Okay,” Ophelia nodded.

“Ophelia, you and Miles just focus on cracking that antidote. I’ll Keep tabs on the folks over at the Rowle Manor and see what they’re up to. And…” Oliver hesitated for a second, “Turns out Alaric’s got his own people digging around too.” “He’s digging into it?” Ophelia blinked, genuinely caught off guard. She hadn’t seen that coming from Alaric. “Yeah, but neither of us has gotten anywhere so far,” Oliver’s voice dropped as his eyes clouded over.

“This whole thing is pretty tricky, whether it’s finding the antidote or digging up clues. Let’s keep our cool and not get ahead of ourselves,” Ophelia reassured Oliver instead.

“Don’t worry,” Oliver replied, his gaze cold and deep, lost in thought.

Ophelia trusted Oliver’s abilities. With Alaric’s men investigating too, she didn’t need to worry so much anymore.

She’d come back mainly to ask about Oliver’s progress. Now that she was updated, she felt a bit more at ease.
