Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 411

Chapter 411

Alaric was always busy, but Ophelia knew exactly why he went to the New City Tower.

“Sounds like you know him pretty well, huh?” George couldn’t help but feel a little hurt.

George couldn’t shake the feeling that something between Ophelia and Alaric had changed.

“Here we are,” Ophelia pulled over, sidestepping George’s question.

“Alright, thanks,” George said, stepping out of the car.

Ophelia shook her head and said with a smile, “You’re welcome. If I ever needed help, I know you’d have my back too. That’ s what friends are for.”

George’s smile froze for a second, and felt like someone had jus stabbed him right in the heart.

‘Friends?’ George wondered.

‘Is that really all there is for us?’ he was feeling like he’d just been shoved straight into the friend zone.

He watched as her car slowly disappeared down the road.

George felt like he’d been left out in the cold, more disheartened than ever.

He felt like he’d lost her before he ever even had a chance to have her.

Ophelia made it to the New City Tower in no time.

As soon as she walked into her office, she found Alaric waiting for her.

“Is it really okay for you to not be at your company?” Ophelia asked, cutting straight to the chase as she walked in.

“Yeah,” Alaric said with a teasing smirk. “I’m supposed to be at the hospital anyway. Hanging out here with you is way better.”

Ophelia shot him a deadpan look and said, “Are you holding a grudge? I told you to stay at the hospital for your own good, you know.”

“But if you’re not around, I get all sulky. When I’m in a bad mood it takes me forever to recover. And if I’m slow to get better, I can’t see you, which just makes me even more unhappy…” Alaric said, laying it on thick with a dramatic pout.

“Okay, whatever,” Ophelia sighed, rubbing her temples. “As long as you’re happy, just go wherever you want. I give up.”

She really had no way to deal with him. He could twist anything to his advantage and always had the last word.

Alaric walked over to Ophelia, his gaze gentle and warm. “There’s somewhere I really want to go, but I need you with me. Will you come, Ophelia?”

“Where?” Ophelia blinked, a little confused. “Where do you want to go?”

‘Seriously, what kind of place does he need me for? Is there really something he can’t handle by himself?’ Ophelia wondered.

Standing close, Alaric lowered his head, brushed a soft kiss against her forehead, and whispered, “The City Hall.”

“The… City Hall?” Ophelia repeated, and then it hit her. She instantly blushed.

She gave Alaric a gentle, teasing push and said, “Well, you’ll have to earn it.”

Alaric really did want to marry her, but right now he was just messing around. He had never expected she’d actually say something like that.

“Wait, what do you mean by that, Ophelia?” Alaric blurted out, his heart skipping a beat. ‘Is she finally saying yes to me?’ he
