Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 415

Chapter 415

“It’s fine if you were startled. Just don’t make it look like you’re trying to hide something,” Ophelia said, giving Asher a knowing, almost mocking look before shooting Miles a meaningful glance.

Miles caught on immediately, sounding a bit annoyed, “Well, Unde Asher, Aunt Scarlett, please step aside. You’re not doctors. Don’t get in the way of the professionals.”

“You need to tell us. What’s really going on with Dad? Why did he suddenly need an ambulance?” Asher asked, his voice losing some of its edge.

“It’s not like it’s a full-blown emergency,” Ophelia said, deliberately sounding casual. “I just think it’s safer to have the ambulance take him. Grandpa should stay in the ICU, where the staff know what they’re doing.” She glanced over at the paramedics.

The paramedics had already placed her grandpa on the stretcher.

When Ophelia gave the nod, they gently lifted her grandpa and carried him out of the room.

Asher wanted to step in, but Ophelia’s glare was so sharp it felt ke she could slice right through him. He could only gasp and step aside, his face turning sour with annoyance.

Ophelia ignored Asher and turned to Miles, “Miles, I’m heading to the hospital with Grandpa.”

“Got it,” Miles nodded knowingly.

“I’m coming too,” Asher said, not trusting Ophelia one bit, full of suspicion.

Ophelia didn’t even look his way. She just walked out after the paramedics without a second thought.

Annoyed as hell, Asher clenched his jaw and followed her.

Scarlett frowned at Miles, looking puzzled, “You’re not going to the hospital?”

“No, I’m not going. I came back in a hurry, and I’ve got some things to deal with over there. I’ll go take care of that first,” Miles replied, sounding totally chill.

“Alright then. If anything comes up with your grandpa, we’ll find a way to reach you,” Scarlett added awkwardly. “But I think he’ll probably be fine.”

“Yeah, good people always have luck on their side,” Miles said meaningfully before turning and walking away.

Scarlett froze for a moment, lost in thought, before finally heading downstairs, her mind heavy with worry.

Night fell.

In the ICU.

Once Ophelia had made sure everyone from the Rowle family was gone, she stood by the window, her cold demeanor making it clear she wanted to be left alone.

Alaric reached out and gently squeezed her hand, his voice soft and reassuring. “Ophelia, everything will be alright.”

“I was being careless,” Ophelia whispered, her voice shaking with guilt and self-blame.

She’d thought her precautions would be enough to protect her grandpa, but she had never expected they’d find another

chance to hurt him.

Her grandpa’s condition had gotten even worse. Just by checking his pulse, she could feel something was terribly off. The toxin was coursing through his body.
