Chapter 418
“Let’s wait and see. If Grandpa wakes up soon, we won’t need to do anything,” Ophelia said, raising her eyebrows meaningfully. “Who knows, maybe he’ll be up before we know it
“Yeah, I guess so,” Bianca said, still unsure what Ophelia was getting at. She just nodded along, not daring to say anything else.
“Let’s eat. You were just saying you were worried about Grandpa Once we’re done, you can go check on him,” Ophelia said, turning her attention back to her meal.
No matter why Bianca showed up, Ophelia had already set the bait. Now she would just wait and see if anyone bit.
“Okay,” Bianca nodded, lowering her head to eat, but every so often, she’d sneak a glance at Alaric.
Alaric didn’t react at all. Maybe he didn’t even notice her glances He was focused entirely on Ophelia, piling food onto her plate and gently urging her to eat more.
Seeing how intimate they were, Bianca was heartbroken.
She swallowed her food, but it tasted like cardboard. She was just shoving it mechanically.
She was starting to regret coming over just because she saw the two of them together. Now, it was clear she was just setting herself up for embarrassment.
“Mr. Caldwell, I haven’t heard anything from the company about shooting the commercial lately. It’s already past the time we agreed on. Do you know when I might be able to go?” Bianca mustered up the courage to ask, just hoping for even a glance from Alaric.
‘At least if he talks about work, it meant he’s willing to acknowledge me, right?’ Bianca tried to comfort herself.
But Alaric didn’t even look at her, as if she didn’t exist.
Just as Bianca gritted her teeth, searching for another topic, Ophelia snapped, “If you’re done eating, go upstairs. Otherwise, just shut up and eat.”
Ophelia was already at her limit tolerating Bianca’s presence. She couldn’t stand watching her play up her charms and fish for conversation when there was actually nothing to say.
What really got to her was the way Alaric kept throwing her those dramatic, pleading looks. ‘Aren’t you going to save me? Can’t you see that woman is totally after me?’ he was whining with his eyes.
Ophelia felt both amused and annoyed by him. So she cut Bianca off in a cold voice. She had to step in and shield him. Otherwise, who knew what kind of trouble he would stir up?
That finally seemed to satisfy Alaric. He reached over to pile even more food onto Ophelia’s plate, his eyes twinkling and his voice extra soft, “Ophelia, have some more.”
“Alright, that’s enough,” Ophelia said, pushing his hand away. Her plate was already piled up.
“Then hurry up and eat, Ophelia. Once you’re done, go get some rest,” Alaric said, acting like no one else was around.
Bianca felt so suffocated, and she could hardly catch her breath
“I’m done. You two take your time,” Bianca said as she stood up. She just couldn’t sit by and watch them flaunt their affection anymore.
After Bianca left, Alaric didn’t show the slightest reaction, as if her presence had never mattered to him at all.
Ophelia glanced up at him, and said with a hint of curiosity in her voice, “Did she ever offend you or something?”
She could tell Alaric had been genuinely ignoring Bianca, as if she was completely invisible to him.
