Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 423

Chapter 423

Still, she didn’t really mind Alaric’s little schemes. There was never anything going on between her and Declan anyway. If this helped him land a better career, she was all for it.

Ophelia didn’t argue with Alaric over Declan. If Connor hadn’t brought him up today, she probably wouldn’t have thought

about him at all.

She suddenly realized something and said, “No wonder Felicity suddenly left for abroad, saying she wouldn’t be back anytime soon.”

‘So that’s it. She’s totally hung up on Declan, Ophelia thought.

“That’s their business, not ours,” Alaric sounded a little jealous.

He hated it when she mentioned other men, even if they didn’t stand a chance.

“Yeah, it’s none of our business,” Ophelia said, totally unbothered. “As long as she doesn’t come bothering me, she can do whatever she wants. Not my concern anyway.”

“I knew it, Ophelia, you only have eyes for me,” Alaric said, looking smugly pleased.

He totally misunderstood. Ophelia was talking about Felicity, but he thought she meant Declan.

Ophelia shot Alaric a weird look, frowning,’Seriously, what’s with him?’ she thought.

“Quit the act, will you? There are people around. Aren’t you even a little embarrassed?” Ophelia said, rolling her eyes. She’d gotten used to his theatrics, but she still wished he’d dial it back for the sake of his reputation.

“I’m going to check on Miles,” Ophelia changed the topic.

With her grandpa stable now, it was time for her to hurry up and work on the antidote.

“Alright, I need to swing by the Caldwell Group too. I’ll come back and stay with you once I’m done,” Alaric replied without

hesitation.

“I can handle things on my own. You really don’t need to come to the hospital. go home and get some rest,” Ophelia said softly, her voice full of concern since she knew Alaric hadn’t been sleeping well lately.

Alaric didn’t reply. He just reached out to give her a doting pat on the head and said, “I’m heading out.”

Watching him leave, Ophelia shook her head with a smile and quietly left the ICU.

After making sure no one was watching her, she quietly made her way to a small, out-of-the-way room.

She knocked gently, and the door swung open almost right away. She slipped inside.

“Hey, Ophelia! What are you doing here?” Miles asked, glancing up. “Any news about Grandpa?”

He’d been so swamped in the lab these past few days that he hadn’t heard a thing about what was happening outside. “Grandpa’s stable for now, but we still need to find the antidote ASAP. That’s why I came by,” Ophelia was direct. “Any updates?”

Miles finally breathed a sigh of relief and said, “I’m glad you’re here.”

With Grandpa’s condition under control, they still had time and hope to turn things around.
