“Alright, I’ll take over from here,” Ophelia agreed without hesitation. Now that her grandfather’s condition was stable, she could finally focus on her research.

“Great. No time to waste. I’m heading back to the lab,” Miles said finishing up his briefing before leaving the Dunhollow Hospital.

Ophelia took over Miles’s work and stayed in the makeshift lab, continuing her research.

At the Rowle Manor, Henry came over, glanced around, and lowered his voice, “Asher, I went to the hospital and actually saw Miles just leaving the Dunhollow Hospital.”

“Hadn’t he gone back to the lab?” Asher looked confused. “When did he come back?”

“I thought it was strange, so I had someone look into it. Turns out he’s been at the Dunhollow Hospital this whole time, holed up in a small room he turned into a makeshift lab, doing who knows what. And after he left, Ophelia stayed in his lab and hasn’t come out,”

Henry said, looking anxious. “I don’t know what’s going on, but something about it just feels off, and I can’t shake this uneasy feeling.”

“Yes, this is indeed weird,” Asher muttered, his brows furrowed. What are they even doing in there?”

“Miles has been experimenting with new drugs. Maybe he’s just worried about Dad, so he moved his lab to the Dunhollow Hospital for now,” Scarlett guessed.

Hearing Scarlett’s words, Asher and Henry shared a worried glance, their faces turning even more grim.

“Yeah, he’s definitely been working on some formulas,” Asher said.

“But looks like it’s not his usual experiments,” Henry added.

The two of them shot each other a look, and then muttered through gritted teeth in unison, “He’s working on an antidote.”

“What?” Scarlett blurted out in disbelief. “Did they figure it out?”

“No wonder he was so insistent on taking Dad away. He actually thought he could pull the wool over our eyes,” Asher snapped, his face darkening with anger.

“Honestly, he almost succeeded, Henry reminded them. “If I hadn’t happened to run into him today, Dad could’ve just woken up one day, and we’d have no idea how it happened.”

“What are we going to do now?” Scarlett’s face turned pale as paper. ‘Is everything we’ve done about to go down the drain?’ she thought, her heart pounding with dread.

“Don’t panic. We need to stay calm and not fall apart,” Henry said, trying to reassure her. “They probably haven’t succeeded yet. Otherwise, Miles wouldn’t have left in such a hurry and he wouldn’t have just left Ophelia in charge of the lab.”

“Makes sense,” Asher said, his eyes gloomy and thoughtful. “He must’ve hit a wall and went back to his own lab to check

the data himself.”

‘If they haven’t succeeded yet, we’ve still got a shot, Asher thought. ‘But at this point, there’s no way out for us now.’

“How about we…” Henry said, his voice low and serious.

“Alright,” Asher nodded.

After a few minutes of hushed discussion, Henry finally left the Rowle Manor.
