Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 425

< Chapter 425

She’d already heard Scarlett yelling about calling the cops and covering things up before she even showed up. ‘What the hell is going on?’ Ophelia wondered.

Scarlett sneered and said, “Of course it’s because you’re practicing medicine without a license, recklessly endangering lives, and not even sparing your own grandfather.”

“Aunt Scarlett, are you thinking straight?” Ophelia shot back, raising her eyebrows. “You’re hurling all these accusations at me. Got any proof?”

‘They’ve been scheming for days, and this is the best they could come up with?’ Ophelia thought, amused.

They’d been quiet for days, and she’d thought they were just trying to sweep it under the rug.

‘But after all those discussions, this is the crap they finally pull?s this the best they’ve got? How Pathetic!’ Ophelia scoffed.

“Well, drop the act. We’ve got proof,” Scarlett said with a smug grin. “You’ve been treating your grandpa these past few days, but you don’t even have a medical license. That’s illegal, isn’t it?

“Sure, you know a bit about medicine. You can do it at home if you want. But you actually came to the hospital to treat your grandpa? Are you trying to stop him from recovering? You’re so cold-blooded,” Scarlett snapped, her voice getting louder and her whole body practically shaking with anger.

“Anything else?” Ophelia just leaned back, arms crossed, calm as ever, giving Scarlett a look. ‘Go on, I’m waiting.’ she thought.

Scarlett’s face turned livid and she said through gritted teeth, “Isn’t that enough for you?”

“Ophelia, he’s your grandfather! How could you be so heartless? Asher looked genuinely distressed, letting out a heavy sigh.

“Asher, Ophelia would never do something like that. You’re certainly misunderstanding her,” Adrian said, arriving with a grim expression, standing up for Ophelia.

“That’s right, Asher. This is a family matter. We should handle it ourselves. Why did you call the police?” Victoria’s face was tense, her voice firm.

Back at the Rowle Manor, nobody bothered to step in. But now they were causing a scene at the hospital and even called the cops? That just went too far.

“How are we supposed to handle it ourselves?” Scarlett shrieked. “Just sit back and wait for Dad to die?”

“Scarlett, watch your tongue,” Victoria said coldly and commandingly.

Scarlett snorted and lowered her voice a bit, “You two should stay out of this. You’re her parents after all. You’d better not get involved. Besides, the cops are here. They’ll make sure the truth comes out.”

“Fine, then let the police uncover the truth,” Ophelia said with a sheer as she stared straight at Asher and Scarlett.

Both Asher and Scarlett felt a sudden chill down their spines, an inexplicable sense of dread making them uneasy and on edge.

“Mr. Barrett,” Ophelia said, turning to Elijah. “When you brought me on as a research professor, you held onto my credentials, remember? Why not go ahead and show them to the police now?”
