Chapter 429
‘Even if they’re sending me to prison, they’ll come begging to get me out soon, Asher thought with a smirk.
Ophelia narrowed her eyes. ‘What does he mean? Is Grandpa’s poisoning really impossible to cure?’ she wondered.
‘No wonder we’ve been stuck for so long… Ophelia thought, a chill running down her spine.
“He’s a suspect in this case. Take him away,” Alaric commanded
“Come with us,” the police said, and they quickly took Asher away.
The room fell silent, and everyone looked a little conflicted.
“Ophelia, your grandpa…” Adrian sounded heavy as he looked in the direction Asher had been taken away.
“Dad, the poison Grandpa was given is definitely connected to Uncle Asher,” Ophelia said, her jaw clenched, her voice low and tight. “After we started getting suspicious, they went after Grandpa a second time. That’s why we still haven’t managed to finish the antidote.”
‘They really wanted Grandpa dead,’ Ophelia thought, furious.
“So that’s why you were so firm about getting Grandpa to the hospital. It wasn’t just to protect him, but to force them to slip up, right?” Victoria said, her eyes darkening with worry. “This time, they’ve really gone too far.”
“Is the evidence airtight?” Adrian asked in a low voice.
“We’ve got enough to put him away. He’s not getting out of this Oliver replied with cold eyes. This time, there had to be a real ending.
“Yeah,” Adrian nodded. “They’ll have to answer for what they did!’
Her brother Asher had always been trouble, but Adrian had used to let it go for their father’s sake. But after what Asher did to their father, there was no more room for mercy now.
“Let’s go home,” Victoria said softly, slipping her arm through Adrian’s as she noticed how heavy his mood was.
“Yeah,” Adrian nodded, feeling completely drained. He really needed to get some rest.
“Mom, Dad, don’t worry. We’ll make them pay for this,” Ophelia said, her tone steely and her presence commanding, leaving no room for doubt.
After everything her grandpa had been through, now that they finally had the evidence, there was no way they were letting them escape justice.
And… judging by what they had done to his grandpa, if they got another chance, her dad would probably be next on their
hit list.
After Adrian and Victoria left, Oliver glanced down at Ophelia and said, “Keep working on Grandpa’s antidote. I’ll keep a close eye on everything else.”
Ophelia knew that he was talking about dealing with Asher and Scarlett, and making sure the Rowle Manor got a proper
sweep.
“Alright. Miles and I will go all out,” Ophelia nodded, her eyes darkening with determination. There was no backing down. now. They had to pull this off, and fast.
“Yeah,” Oliver said, giving Ophelia’s shoulder a gentle pat. No words were needed at this moment because they understood each other perfectly.
“Oliver,” Ophelia said with a reassuring smile.
Oliver froze for a second, and then awkwardly glanced away.
