Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 430

Chapter 430

Ophelia snapped out of it and shot him a glare. She said, “Wipe that smug look off your face. I don’t need you hanging around me.”

Even though Asher and Scarlett were both behind bars now, Ophelia couldn’t afford to relax a bit. Her grandfather’s situation was way more urgent.

Seeing how serious she was, Alaric lowered his gaze and asked “Is this poison really that hard to detoxify?”

He’d thought that it was just Asher’s outburst in a rage, nothing but empty bluster.

“Actually… Miles and I still haven’t found the antidote,” Ophelia said, her expression growing even more solemn.

She hadn’t felt this heavy before, but remembering Asher’s words and how confident he’d been at the time, she started to worry for real.

Seeing the worry in her eyes, Alaric spoke softly, “Don’t worry. We’ll find a way. You’re not alone this time. Miles is with you, and we’ve all got your back.”

Even if most of them couldn’t really help, they were all rooting for her.

“Yes,” Ophelia nodded, her gaze firm and full of resolve, and almost as if she was giving herself a pep talk. “There has to be a way.”

She couldn’t afford to hesitate or back down now. She just had to keep fighting.

“I’m heading to the lab,” Ophelia said, giving him a casual wave as she started to head out.

But Alaric caught her by the arm, complaining, “After all the help gave you today, you’re really just going to leave me hanging?”

“Well, what else do you want, Mr. Caldwell?” Ophelia stopped and met his gaze with a teasing smile.

‘Look at him, trying to cash in on his good deed and all that, Ophelia mused.

Alaric thought for a second, and then grinned, “It’s almost lunch ime. Come have lunch with me.”

“Seriously, that’s it?” Ophelia chuckled, both amused and speechless.

She knew that he was just worried she’d get so caught up in her experiments that she’d forget to eat lunch.

Seeing it was almost lunchtime, she said with a nod, “Alright then.”

“Of course, that’s not all,” Alaric said. Before Ophelia could react, he stole a quick kiss, barely brushing her lips.

“Hey! What are you doing?” Ophelia yelped, glancing around in a panic, blushing a little.

‘Is he for real? He’s getting bolder every day. Doesn’t he care who might be watching?’ Ophelia thought, both embarrassed and a little annoyed.

Seeing her flustered face, Alaric smiled dotingly. He gently pulled her along, leading her outside.

Honestly, if he didn’t care about people around, that kiss would’ve been way more than just a quick peck.

As they walked out of the hospital, they bumped into George.

“Ophelia, I’m here to visit your grandfather,” George said, holding a gift box, his eyes soft and gentle.

He’d thought it over and realized that just getting close to Ophelia wasn’t enough. He should also connect with her family. So when he heard her grandfather was hospitalized, he decided to come visit him.

“Thanks for your kindness,” Ophelia said after a brief pause. “But I’m afraid my grandfather isn’t able to have visitors right now. Maybe another day?”

“Is your grandfather really that bad off?” George’s face darkened He clearly hadn’t expected her to say no.

“Yeah, he’s still unconscious,” Ophelia answered honestly, though she left out the specifics.

“I see,” George replied. Since she was so upfront, he didn’t dwell on it.
