Chapter 437
Ella blinked in surprise, blurting out, “Boss, is something wrong with him?”
“Just look into it and find out,” Ophelia replied. She couldn’t shake off that strange feeling gnawing at her. But once she got answers, she’d finally be able to relax.
“Alright, I’m on it,” Ella said quickly. “I’ll call you as soon as I find anything.”
After hanging up, Ophelia turned grim as she stared at the lab bench. The mice weren’t moving at all. Another failed test… She put her phone away and walked over, letting out a frustrated sigh. “Oh, no. Not again!”
Biting her lips, Ophelia narrowed her eyes in thought. ‘Maybe I messed up the dosage or the proportions?’
‘Well, time to start from scratch again…’ she muttered to herself feeling a wave of disappointment.
Time flew by, and three days passed.
Ophelia stared at the vial in her hand with darkened eyes.
“Boss?” Ella suddenly called out, knocking on the door.
Ophelia got up to open the door, and stepped out.
“Boss, your uncle Henry went to the police station the day your uncle Asher got arrested. The rest of the time, he’s just been working at Rowle Group. Yesterday, he visited your uncle Asher again. Nothing else seems off,” Ella leaned in and asked in a hushed voice, “Boss, do you think he’s been hiding something?”
“He tried to cut a deal with me and asked me to spare my uncle Asher,” Ophelia said thoughtfully. “I just can’t shake the feeling that something’s wrong with him.”
“Hasn’t he always been your uncle Asher’s lackey? Of course held come begging for him now,” Ella said, blinking. She didn’t think it was anything out of the ordinary.
“Maybe I was just overthinking it,” Ophelia muttered, not saying anything else as she gripped the vial and headed for the special care ward.
Elijah and a team of specialists were already waiting in the special care ward.
When Ophelia walked in, Elijah spoke up in a negotiating tone, “Dr. Rowle, we heard you’re about to give Mr. Rowle the antidote. Can we watch?”
“Yeah. If it actually works, could we get a sample for further research?” one of the experts jumped in.
“Exactly, Dr. Rowle. If you need anything, just tell us. We’ll make it happen,” Elijah promised.
As soon as Elijah finished, the rest of the group turned to Ophelia, their eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Even though Mr. Rowle’s condition wasn’t public knowledge, the doctors who’d been in on the original consult all knew what was up. Now that they’d heard Ophelia had cooked up an antidote, they were itching to get their hands on it for further studies.
“That’s not up to me. I’m afraid you’ll have to check with Miles about that,” Ophelia said, sounding pretty indifferent. She didn’t really care, but she had no clue if Miles would want to run with the project himself, so she wasn’t about to speak
for him.
“Alright, we’ll talk to Miles later. But can we stay and watch for now?” Elijah pressed, sounding hopeful.
“Yeah, sure,” Ophelia nodded. With Elijah giving her those puppy dog eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to turn him down.
“What’s going on here?” Claire stood in the doorway, looking at them in confusion.
