Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 438

Chapter 438

Chapter 438

“My name is Mr. Gideon. I know a bit about poisons. Claire asked me to help, so I came to see if I could help wake Mr. Rowle up,” the old man introduced himself, calm and confident.

“Aunt Claire, since you knew someone like him, you should’ve brought him over sooner. Grandpa wouldn’t have been lying here in this uncertain state for so many days,” Ophelia’s eyes darkened as she stared at Claire, making Claire feel uneasy all

over.

Ophelia’s gaze was so sharp that Claire could barely stand it.

“I just happened to hear about him, so I thought I’d try bringing him over to take a look. If it doesn’t work, it can’t be any worse than now. But if it does, then everyone can finally relax,” Claire bit the bullet and tried to explain.

“Oh, really?” Ophelia looked at Claire with a mocking smile. “What a coincidence. You sure have some luck, Aunt Claire.”

Anyone could tell that Claire and Mr. Gideon weren’t strangers, and Mr. Gideon obviously knew her grandpa’s situation well. Yet Claire still had the nerve to claim it was all just a coincidence.

Since no one really knew who this old man was, there was no way Ophelia was letting him anywhere near her grandpa.

“Thanks for your concern, Aunt Claire, but it’s not needed,” Ophelia said, raising the vial of antidote. “I’ve already developed the cure myself.”

“You actually made it?” Claire asked in disbelief. “How could that be possible?”

“Claire, Ms. Rowle is a miracle doctor. If even she can’t crack it, nobody else stands a chance,” Elijah instinctively backed Ophelia up.

Claire snorted in disdain, “Miracle doctor? Please, that’s just a fancy nickname. She’s just a kid. How could she know anything medical? She’s just putting on a show for the spotlight

She had a task to do today, and she was determined to make sure Mr. Gideon got to examine her father-in-law, no matter

what.

Especially now that she knew Ophelia had found an antidote, there was no way she could let her father-in-law wake up.

After they waited for days, their patience was wearing thin. The longer this dragged on, the more likely something would go wrong. To keep Ophelia from getting suspicious, Claire came herself this time.

Ophelia noticed a flash of panic on Claire’s face, and her eyes darkened with suspicion.

There was no way things were as simple as Claire claimed. And this old man…

Ophelia glanced over at Mr. Gideon. He was fussing with his grey beard, putting on a show. “Looks to me like he doesn’t have much time left. Young lady, don’t drag this out any longer.”

He might not know the full story, but whoever sent him over had given him very clear instructions on what he was supposed to do.

Ophelia shot Mr. Gideon a cold glare and said sharply, “You’re the one wasting our time. If you insist on staying, why don’t you go explain yourself to the police?”

Mr.”What’s with that attitude, young lady? I’m here to help! Why are you trying to stop me? Are you hiding something?” Mr. Gideon snapped, blushing with anger as he accused Ophelia.
