Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 440

Chapter 440

“Henry, you came just in time! Ophelia’s about to call the cops on me. Please, tell her she’s being unreasonable,” Claire said, grabbing Henry’s arm in a panic, looking genuinely terrified.

“Ophelia, what’s going on? Why are you trying to have Claire arrested?” Henry asked, looking genuinely surprised, as if he couldn’t believe why Ophelia would do such a thing.

“I don’t have the authority to arrest her, Uncle Henry. You’ll have to ask the police about that,” Ophelia replied, shooting Henry a lazy, almost indifferent look. Her voice was calm, but it sent a chill down his spine.

Henry frowned slightly, his tone softening as he asked, “I mean, what did Claire do to make you so angry?”

‘Henry sure knows how to twist words, Ophelia thought, raising her brows slightly.

She shrugged, and said in a remarkably calm tone, “Oh, she tried to kill Grandpa.”

“She… What did you just say?” Henry raised his voice in disbelie “How is that even possible? Could you be mistaken?”

“Whether we’re mistaken or not, the police will let you know,” Ophelia said, not even sparing them a glance. She was done watching their show.

She didn’t buy for a second that Henry didn’t know what was going on.

Ophelia didn’t bother to sugarcoat it. Henry’s face darkened, but he took a deep breath and forced himself to stay calm. ” Ophelia, can we hold off on this for a bit? Let me figure out what really happened. I’m sure there’s some kind of misunderstanding.”

“Mr. Rowle, this really does need to be handled by the police. There are plenty of witnesses, and we caught him in the act. As for what happens next, we’ll just have to wait for the police to finish their investigation. Why don’t you head home and wait for updates?” Elijah tried to persuade Henry, giving him a quick explanation.

Henry’s eyes narrowed for a moment. He glanced at the man who was tied up. “Is it him? He was caught in the act?” “Yes, he was brought here by your wife, so…” Elijah trailed off, but it was obvious that Claire was the prime suspect. Henry’s face darkened, his voice low and intimidating. “Who the hell are you? Why were you trying to hurt my father and my wife?”

Mr. Gideon looked up at Henry, just staring at him in silence.

“Come on, say something! Is someone threatening you? If you tell me the truth, maybe I can help,” Henry pressed, his voice tight with urgency.

Mr. Gideon stayed silent for a moment before he finally spoke, his voice low and distant, “No one made me do this. I’ve had bad blood with him for years, so I just took the chance to settle the score.”

Ophelia fixed him with a cold stare and said coldly, “You’ve got a grudge against my grandpa? When did that start, and what happened?”

Mr. Gideon glanced at Ophelia, his voice indifferent, “I don’t see any reason to tell you.”

Ophelia’s brows furrowed, her face growing even colder, but her tone stayed calm. “Suit yourself. You can explain it to the police.”

With that, Ophelia just shrugged at Henry and said, “If the police buy his story and don’t need Aunt Claire to cooperate with the investigation, I’ve got no complaints.”

“Since your aunt Claire brought him here, she’ll obviously need to cooperate with the investigation. But he just confessed it was all his doing, so I’m sure the police will let Claire go soon. Don’t go blaming Claire for this. I bet she would never hurt your grandpa,” Henry said, slipping back into his usual good-guy act.

“Who knows?” Ophelia gave Henry a long, meaningful look and turned to Elijah. “Have security keep an eye on them. My grandpa can’t wait any longer.”

“Got it,” Elijah replied, and then ordered security to take Mr. Gideon away.

“Don’t touch me! I’m not a criminal!” Claire snapped, yanking her arm away from the security guards.

“Let her stay. If the police need her, they’ll come and ask her to cooperate,” Henry interjected, stopping security from taking Claire away.

Chapter 440

Henry and Claire exchanged a glance in shock.

“The antidote?!” Both Henry and Claire were stunned.

‘Did they actually succeed?’

“No way,” Claire muttered under her breath, refusing to believe it

“Ophelia, did you really make the antidote?” Henry asked, still in shock. ‘How could she have done it? Didn’t Miles say nobody could ever figure it out?’ he wondered.

“Yeah,” Ophelia replied with a slight nod, and then started getting everything ready.

Now that she was sure the antidote worked, she needed to get into her grandpa as soon as possible.

“Wait a sec,” Claire blurted out, unable to hold back as she saw Ophelia getting ready.

Ophelia shot her a puzzled look and asked, “What do you mean, Aunt Claire?”

“Ophelia, I know you’re desperate to save him, but you can’t just rush into this,” Claire said, full of resentment.

“You just pull out some random thing and claim it’s the antidote and you want to use it right away? What if something goes wrong? Who’s going to take responsibility for that?”

“I’ll take responsibility,” Ophelia said coldly.

‘She tried to hurt Grandpa, and now she’s actually stopping me from saving him? Seriously, how shameless can this woman get?’ Ophelia thought, her patience wearing thin.
