Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 444

Chapter 444

“Dr. Rowle, why isn’t Mr. Rowle waking up yet?” Elijah blurted out in a nervous voice, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

Everyone turned to Ophelia. She was watching her grandfather intently, waiting for him to open his eyes any second now.

But her grandpa didn’t stir at all. He looked completely out cold, like there was no chance he’d be waking up anytime soon.

“Look! I knew you couldn’t pull it off. Now what are you going to do after you screw things up?” Claire’s eyes suddenly lit up. She was smug, thinking she’d finally caught Ophelia slipping.

Ophelia had just embarrassed her greatly, and she wasn’t about to let this chance slip by.

“So, are you actually happy Grandpa can’t wake up?” Ophelia shot her a cold glare, and Claire froze, her face turning pale. ‘Damn, I got carried away. How could I look happy now?’ Claire cursed herself, instantly regretting her reaction.

“I’m just saying, if you can’t handle it, don’t act like you can. Now what? You’re putting your grandpa at risk. How are you gonna take responsibility for that?” Claire tried to sound tough, but her voice lost some of its edge.

‘Damn this girl! How can she be such a compelling presence at such a young age?’ Claire grumbled to herself, feeling totally thrown off.

Just then, the old man let out a weak cough and slowly opened his eyes, waking up.

“Grandpa!” Ophelia cried out happily as she saw him waking up.

“Dad, you’re finally awake!” Henry hurried over, his eyes rimmed with tears. “We’ve all been so worried about you. No one ever imagined Asher would do something like this, but he’s been caught…”

“Henry, let’s not get into all that right now. Grandpa just woke up and he’s still very weak. We should focus on getting him checked out,” Ophelia said, her eyes turning cold and serious as she cut Henry off. Then she turned to Elijah and said, “Mr. Barrett, please arrange a comprehensive physical exam for my grandpa.”

“Of course,” Elijah nodded, heading off to make the arrangements. The other observers followed him out.

“Aunt Claire, Grandpa’s awake. Once he’s had his check-up, we’ll know if he really had some beef with that Mr. Gideon.” Ophelia said, her gaze icy cold as she raised her eyebrows. “Doesn’t that make you happy, Aunt Claire?”

Claire suddenly came to her senses. No wonder Ophelia had let her off the hook so easily just now.

‘So this damn girl had been playing games, Claire thought, a chill creeping down her spine.

‘She totally knew her grandpa would wake up and have her back Claire realized something, dread washing over her.

Claire opened her mouth, but couldn’t say anything. Finally, she just muttered, “Yeah, it’s good he’s awake.”

“If only you truly mean that, Aunt Claire,” Ophelia just shrugged, unconcerned. Her words, though, made Claire’s face turn

livid.

Claire glanced anxiously at Henry, full of worry and unease.
