Chapter 448
“That just makes me feel even more stressed,” Bianca sobbed, dabbing at her eyes.
“Oh, really?” Ophelia frowned, as if weighing it over, and then said with a hint of reluctance, “Fine, if that’s what you want.” “Grandpa’s situation really is your responsibility. You were at the Rowle Manor with your parents. If something was off, you should’ve noticed it in time and stopped it,” Ophelia accused, loud and direct.
If Bianca insisted on being the scapegoat, Ophelia was happy to let her have it.
Bianca’s face turned livid as she shot Ophelia a speechless glare and said, “How was I supposed to know they’d do something like that?”
‘Seriously, what’s Ophelia’s deal? Can’t she tell I’m just putting on a show?’ Bianca thought, annoyed.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” Ophelia shrugged and nodded casually. “Since it’s not really your fault but you’re feeling guilty, why not just drop all your work for now? Stay here and take care of Grandpa. Think of it as a way to atone for what your parents did.”
“Ophelia!” Bianca snapped, her voice rising with anger. “Who do you think you are to tell me to drop my work?”
“Weren’t you the one who said you felt guilty? I’m just giving you a chance to make amends,” Ophelia said, batting her big eyes, looking all sincere and innocent.
Bianca was so pissed off. ‘Ophelia’s totally doing this on purpose,’ she fumed.
“I’ll try to come back more often to spend time with Grandpa, but there’s no way I’m putting my career on hold,” Bianca looked down, but her voice was resolute.
Ophelia gave Bianca a look and said calmly, “It was just a suggestion. If you don’t want to, that’s your call. But if you’re not actually that guilty, maybe you should drop the act. No one’s buying it. Honestly, it’s just no fun for us to watch.”
“You!” Bianca was left speechless by Ophelia’s retort and she could barely breathe.
“Ophelia,” Daphne said, frowning, sounding a bit helpless. “You’ve got Bianca all wrong. You know how things are for us. We’re relying on her for everything right now. She can’t just stop working. You’re not gonna totally ruin things for me and Bianca, right?”
Ophelia raised her eyebrows at Daphne, shrugged, and said, “Don’t be so dramatic.”
With that, she just looked away, not bothering to say anything else.
She really wasn’t in the mood to deal with their sisterly drama. Besides, she’d read her grandpa’s will, and knew that both Bianca and Daphne got their share.
As long as they kept their heads down and did what they were supposed to, Ophelia wouldn’t be hard on them.
Daphne’s face turned a little pale. She bit her lips, but didn’t say another word.
A cold, vicious glint flashed in Bianca’s eyes. ‘Daphne used to be so bold, always doing whatever she wanted. When was she ever so beaten down? Now, in front of Ophelia, she can’t even say a word, Bianca thought, feeling a surge of
resentment.
Bianca looked up at Ophelia, gritting her teeth secretly. ‘Just walt. Let’s see how long you can keep acting all high and mighty… she thought.
