Chapter 449
“Well, Grandpa said we don’t need to stay with him anymore. He told us to go home and get some rest,” Ophelia replied, and unconsciously glanced at Henry.
Henry’s face instantly darkened. ‘Did my father say something to Ophelia?’ he wondered.
“In that case, we should head home. I’ll stay and look after him. If anything comes up, I’ll let you know right away,” Henry volunteered, wanting to stay behind.
He needed to figure out what his father’s attitude toward him was now.
His father hadn’t brought up what they’d talked about by the bedside after he woke up. ‘Is he just waiting to settle the score with me later?’ Henry thought.
If he’d known his father would wake up, he never would’ve allowed his impatience to get the better of him and threatened his father.
“Uncle Henry, I don’t think you should stay,” Ophelia said, her voice cold and distant.
Henry’s face darkened, and he said, “What do you mean by that?
‘Did my father really tell Ophelia everything?’ Henry wondered.
“Uncle Henry, shouldn’t you be more worried about Aunt Claire right now?” Ophelia said with an innocent shrug. “Oh,” Henry looked a bit grim as he nodded.
Ophelia narrowed her eyes, sounding genuinely puzzled as she asked, “What else did you think I meant, Uncle Henry?” ‘Is Uncle Henry hiding something?’ Ophelia wondered.
‘Hold on, why isn’t Uncle Henry mentioned in Grandpa’s will?’ Ophelia wondered.
Ophelia remained perfectly calm, quietly observing Henry without giving anything away.
Henry replied awkwardly, “No, I didn’t mean anything by it.”
Whether he was just overthinking things or Ophelia was simply a master at hiding her true feelings, he knew he had to keep his cool and not give himself away.
“Glad to hear it,” Ophelia replied nonchalantly, as if it was nothing but a casual remark.
But Henry somehow felt a heavy sense of anxiety and unease pressing down on him, and he couldn’t shake it off.
“Ophelia, you’ve really been through a lot lately. Since Grandpa said we should go home, let’s head back,” Victoria said softly, her heart aching a little as she saw how tired Ophelia looked.
Now that Grandpa Tristan was awake, he’d just need to rest and recover. There was no need for Ophelia to personally take care of him anymore. She deserved to get some proper rest herself.
“Sure, let’s go,” Ophelia agreed without hesitation.
She needed a moment alone to clear her head and think things through. ‘Maybe I don’t know Uncle Henry as well as I thought I did,’ she thought.
“Oliver, mind if I ride with you?” Ophelia asked with a playful smile.
It was nothing but casual sibling banter, nothing out of the ordinary.
“Of course not,” Oliver replied, heading for the door.
“Mom, Dad, I’m going with Oliver,” Ophelia said over her shoulder as she hurried after him.
Victoria turned to Miles and said in a gentle voice, “Let’s go too. We’ll have the kitchen whip up something delicious for Ophelia to help her recover.”
“Alright, let’s go,” Miles nodded, leaving with Victoria.
One by one, the Rowle family members left, until only Henry, Bianca, and Daphne were left in the spacious living room. “Daphne, go upstairs and get some rest. Bianca and I will be staying at the Rowle Manor for a while,” Bianca told Daphne. “Okay,” Daphne nodded listlessly, shuffling off.

arrogance and pride had vanished. tarting a conversation.
“Are you really going to do what you promised my dad?” Bianca asked bluntly, not beating around the bush.
“What do you mean?” Henry narrowed his eyes, his tone turned sharp, almost threatening.
‘So Asher actually told Bianca about this? This was supposed to be just between us brothers,’ Henry thought, annoyed.

‘What’s her angle here? Does she really think she can play me like this?’ he thought.
“I think you know exactly what I mean, Uncle Henry. I just want to know if you’re going to keep your word. That’ll decide what I’ll do next,” Bianca said, straightforward and unapologetic
Henry was silent for a moment before he said seriously, “Honestly, this doesn’t concern you two, and it’s not like you can do anything about it. I have no reason to break my promise, but…”
He let out a self-mocking chuckle and continued, “But as you can see, I’m not getting anything out of this, so I can’t really offer you anything.”
It wasn’t that he was breaking his promise. It was just that he’d already lost.
“That’s all I needed to hear,” Bianca said, getting up with her head held high and walking out without another word.
The odds were clearly against them now, and there was no way she’d just sit around and suck it up.
Not to mention that Alaric and Ophelia…
If she didn’t act soon enough, she’d miss her chance for good.
Henry watched Bianca leave silently and thoughtfully.
