Chapter 452
“You said it yourself, the last director,” Ophelia replied, calm as ever. “Now I’m in charge, and I think Lucia’s the right choice for this project.”
Bianca frowned, and said tentatively through gritted teeth, “Ophelia, are you retaliating against me on purpose?”
Ophelia raised her eyebrows and said sarcastically, “Did you do something shady that makes you think I’m out for revenge?”
Bianca faltered, and quickly changed her tune, “I didn’t do anything. As long as you’re not doing this just because you don’t like me, that’s fine.”
Ophelia just shrugged, not giving anything away. “If there’s nothing else, you can leave.”
Bianca gritted her teeth, barely keeping herself together. “I won’t bother you anymore,” she said, sounding a little defeated.
Ophelia had really caught her off guard. Now, Bianca had no choice but to admit defeat and accept it.
Forget it. Since things had come to this, she could only bide her time and plan her next move.
As Bianca turned to leave, she came face-to-face with Alaric, who had just stepped into the doorway, totally catching her off guard.
and “Alaric!” Bianca exclaimed, her eyes lighting up for a split second. But she realized that he was probably here for Ophelia. Her heart sank with a sense of bitterness and pain crashing over her.
Alaric barely spared Bianca a glance, his gaze cold and indifferent. But as soon as he turned to Ophelia, his whole demeanor shifted. He suddenly seemed so much more alive. “Ophelia, are you done for the day?”
One could even hear his chuckle, and Bianca’s face turned pale.
He didn’t even want to look at Bianca, but with Ophelia, he was so nice and warm.
Ophelia couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Alaric and said, “I just got here.”
‘Done for the say? Seriously, I’m not here for fun. Work’s never really over, she grumbled to herself.
Alaric checked his watch and said, “Looks like it’s almost lunchtime.”
“You said ‘almost’, so technically it’s not lunchtime yet,” Ophelia retorted.
“Alright then,” Alaric said, not bothering to argue. He settled onto the couch, his eyes full of expectation. “Take your time. I’ll just wait here.”
Ophelia shot him a look full of mock annoyance. ‘How can I focus on work with him around?’ she thought.
With him staring at her, who could possibly concentrate?
She pushed the files away, leaned back, and fixed her gaze on Alaric. “Well, Alaric, why on earth are you here?”
Alaric said with a smile, “I’m waiting to have lunch with you,” He sounded like it was the most natural thing in the world.
He was here for her, and he certainly wanted to spend as much time with her as possible.
Ophelia couldn’t help but roll her eyes. ‘Seriously, does he really have nothing better to do?’ she thought.
Watching Ophelia and Alaric flaunt their affection like nobody else was even there, Bianca felt heartbroken.
Bianca clenched her jaw, and her eyes darkened with resentment.
‘Just wait until you lose everything. I’ll see if you’ll sell out for your future, or if you’ll really stick together in difficult times…’ she thought bitterly.
