Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 456

Chapter 456

“Oh, we’re not in a hurry,” Claire said with an awkward smile.

She’d been about to leave, but seeing Ophelia made her lose her nerve.

“Do you need something from me, Claire?” Ophelia smirked just a little as she glanced at Claire. Her bright eyes seemed to see right through Claire, making her feel even more guilty.

‘What could I possibly want from her? I’m just scared she’ll go tattling to Tristan,’ Claire thought to herself.

“No, I just wanted to clear things up. Everything at the hospital was just a misunderstanding,” Claire said, forcing herself to put on a brave face and praise Ophelia. “Thanks to you, everything turned out fine.”

“Are you really grateful to me, Auntie Claire?” Ophelia arched her brow with a mocking smirk.

Seeing that smirk on Ophelia’s face, Claire felt a chill run down her spine. She just knew this wasn’t going to end well.

With no way out, Claire put on a fake smile and played along. “Of course. The whole family should be grateful to you.” “Glad to hear it,” Ophelia nodded, pretending to be pleased. “I was worried you might still be mad at me for getting you in trouble.”

Claire couldn’t help but twitch. ‘Damn, this brat just blurts out whatever comes to her mind. What am I even supposed to say to that?’ she thought.

“Ophelia, now that Claire’s back, it just proves everything before was just a misunderstanding. Why would she hold a grudge against you?” Henry quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

Then he took Claire by the arm and said, “Alright, we’ll let you visit your grandpa in peace. We’ll get going.”

“Oh, and don’t forget to chase away the bad luck,” Ophelia said, looking all gracious and forgiving.

Claire nearly tripped over her own feet, fuming inside. ‘This little brat is totally doing it on purpose; she thought.

But with Tristan right there, she couldn’t say a word.

More importantly, she really needed to keep a low profile these days and not draw any more of Tristan’s attention.

“Dad, we’ll head out now,” Henry said, giving Tristan a respectful nod before leading Claire away.

Tristan withdrew his gaze, but when he spotted Ophelia, his face broke into a warm smile. “Didn’t I tell you to take it easy for a few days? What are you doing back already?”

He knew Ophelia had been running herself ragged lately, and couldn’t help but worry she was overdoing it.

“Just wanted to check in on you, Grandpa. Oliver and I will head out soon,” Ophelia replied, a playful curve to her lips as she reached over to feel Tristan’s pulse.

After a quick check, she nodded, satisfied. “You’re in the clear, Just keep resting a bit longer and you’ll be back to your old self.”

After all, he’d been poisoned. Even though the antidote worked, his body took a hit and still needs some time to get back to full strength.

But with her healing dishes, Tristan should make a full recovery.

Seeing Ophelia so relaxed, Oliver felt a weight lift off his shoulders. ‘As long as Grandpa’s okay, that’s all that matters,’ he thought.

“Grandpa, we’ve made some progress with the company…” Oliver had come over specifically to talk business, and now that he knew Tristan was fine, he didn’t waste any time getting straight to the point.

Tristan’s eyes grew a little darker as he listened to Oliver’s report.

Back in the courtyard.

“Hmph, those two showing up at a time like this? You just know they’re up to something,” Claire grumbled, clearly annoyed.

Too bad they couldn’t stay, otherwise, she’d definitely be trying to overhear whatever they were scheming.

Now that Asher and Scarlett had gone inside, no one could guess what Tristan really thought of them. Both Claire and Henry were left feeling seriously on edge.
