Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 457

Chapter 457

‘Asher tried to poison Tristan, and we’ve got the evidence. Once Asher gets control of the Rowle family, we’ll turn him in and everything will be ours.

‘Too bad, not only did all our efforts go down the drain, we ended up getting ourselves into even more trouble, Claire thought to herself.

After a long pause, Henry said with resignation, “For now, let’s just keep our heads down and stay out of trouble. We’ll figure out the rest later.”

Ophelia saving Tristan really threw him for a loop.

But what was done was done. Since Tristan hadn’t come after him, he would just lay low for now and hope everyone would forget about him. As long as they didn’t kick him out for good, he would get his chance to make a comeback.

“Let’s go,” Henry said, striding off ahead. He didn’t want to stick around and make himself even more miserable.

He knew they were probably inside talking about his future, but he wasn’t even allowed in on the conversation. That kind of uncertainty was driving him crazy.

“Ugh,” Claire sighed, muttering, “Something just feels off.”

“What?” Henry asked offhandedly.

“I don’t know, it’s just… way too quiet,” Claire said, shaking her head. She couldn’t explain it, but she just couldn’t shake this uneasy feeling.

They exchanged a heavy look and walked off, each lost in their own thoughts.

After they left, the butler finally returned to the living room.

“Sir, they’ve gone,” the butler reported quietly.

“Did they say anything?” Tristan asked, his eyes dark and unreadable.

The butler shook his head. “Not really. They just stood around in the courtyard for a while, then left looking pretty anxious. I think they’re worried.”

“Mm.” Tristan dismissed the butler with a nod.

After the butler left, Tristan scoffed, “Now they’re acting all nervous? Weren’t they the gutsy ones just a minute ago?”

“Grandpa, I think Uncle Henry’s scared out of his wits this time,” Ophelia said, shaking her head with a half-amused, half- exasperated look. ‘Honestly, it’s almost funny how rattled he is,’ she thought.

He’d plotted everything, convinced he had it all in the bag, only for it to blow up in his face at the last second. Even his trump cards were out in the open then; he had no choice but to lay low and keep his tail tucked.

“So, Grandpa, what’s your next move?” Oliver asked quietly, his eyes dark with concern. ‘Whatever happens next, it’s all up to him now, he thought.

“You think I don’t see what’s going on? Asher might have big dreams, but he’s not smart enough to pull it off. The real puppet master here is Henry,” Tristan said, his gaze turning icy.

‘If Henry’s family hadn’t been scheming in the shadows all these years, Asher never would’ve gotten so bold, Tristan thought to himself.

He always thought that as long as he was around, he could keep them in line. But he never expected Asher would actually go so far as to turn on him.

And as for Henry…
