Chapter 458
‘Based on what Grandpa and Oliver had just said, it seemed like Uncle Henry wouldn’t dare make any sudden moves for a while, she thought to herself.
“If he’s not an idiot, he’ll have to keep up the act for a while,” Oliver said, a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes and a trace of sarcasm in his voice.
“Then why were you talking to Grandpa just now?” Ophelia frowned slightly. If Henry really planned to lay low for a while, their plan wouldn’t work.
Oliver’s eyes darkened as he let out a cold snort. “We’ll just have to see if he can really keep his cool.”
Ophelia raised an eyebrow, finally getting what Oliver meant. Even if Henry wanted to play it safe, Oliver wasn’t about to let him off the hook.
Five days flew by in the blink of an eye.
Ophelia went to work at Rowle Group as usual, but her mood seemed to get gloomier with each passing day.
Sitting in her office, Ophelia just couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, a weird heaviness in the air she couldn’t quite explain.
Knock, knock, knock.
Ophelia called out, “Come in.”
Anna walked in and placed a few updated schedules on the desk. “Ms. Rowle, these are the revised artist schedules.” “Okay,” Ophelia said, glancing down to review them.
“Ms. Rowle, Bianca’s been turning down a lot of jobs lately, and she’s really upset about it. She’s been throwing a fit and complaining nonstop,” Anna whispered.
O
Ophelia glanced up, a mocking smile tugging at her lips. “Just complaining?”
That really wasn’t Bianca’s style. Ophelia thought, ‘Is she actually trying to lay low for once?’
“She totally lost it. Her manager’s trying to calm her down,” Anna said, making a face like she was still shaken up.
Ophelia understood instantly, thinking, ‘Wow, her temper really is something else.’
“Just ignore her,” Ophelia said with a casual wave. “Go on, get back to work.”
“Alright,” Anna nodded and slipped out of the office.
Ophelia leaned back in her chair, an icy smirk curling at her lips.
‘Bianca’s always been hogging all the best resources in the company. Now that things are just fair, she can’t stand it,’ Ophelia thought.
‘Too bad. She’ll just have to suck it up,’ she added to herself.
D
After finishing up the paperwork, Ophelia rubbed her temples, her gaze drifting to the window as she got lost in thought.
Lost in thought, she was startled by the sudden ring of her phone.
Ophelia snapped back and glanced at the screen. Ryan’s name flashed, and her brow furrowed instinctively.
She picked up, her tone flat. “What is it?”
“Ms. Rowle, Mr. Caldwell’s been out with a high fever for three days nów. I’m at my wit’s end, so I had no choice but to call you. Could you please come take a look at him?” Ryan’s voice was full of anxiety.
Ophelia’s heart lurched. She sprang up and rushed out the door. “What happened?”
“I don’t know. He suddenly came down with a high fever, and we’ve tried every trick in the book,” Ryan said, sounding desperate, he wouldn’t have called Ophelia unless he was truly qut of options.
“I’m on it,” Ophelia said, already out the door before the call every ended.
“Ms. Rowle?” Anna came over, noticing Ophelia looked rattled. “Is something wrong?”
“I need to head out for work. Keep an eye on Lucia Joining the crew,” Ophelia instructed, not even glancing back as she strode toward the elevator.
Seeing how flustered Ophelia was, Anna starter lock what she wanted to say.
