Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 459

Chapter 459

Aside from the usual travel essentials, the rest of what Ophelia had her pack was just emergency meds and her set of needles.

Knowing Ophelia was heading out to help someone, Ella could only watch as she hurried away, hoping everything would go smoothly for her.

Afternoon arrived in the blink of an eye.

Ophelia made it to Calithra as fast as she could.

The car Ryan had arranged picked her up right on time, and they drove straight to Alaric’s place.

Ophelia leaned back in her seat, her gaze shifting as she mulled things over.

Her brows drew together, she was annoyed, but also kind of at a loss.

The moment Ryan called, it all made sense. That was why she’d been so irritable these past few days.

Alaric had been gone for five days. First it was calls, then just texts, and then, nothing. Three whole days of radio silence.

‘How did I not notice how weird that was for Alaric?’ she thought. He was always coming up with reasons to get close to her. Even if he was away on business, he’d never just disappear like this.

No calls, no texts, not even a single message.

‘So that’s it. He’s been sick, out cold with a high fever, and that’s why he hasn’t reached out,’ she realized.

She’d just been feeling down because she hadn’t heard from him, it never even crossed her mind that something could’ve happened to him.

There was this strange, indescribable feeling in her chest, making everything feel even heavier.

But the moment she saw Alaric, Ophelia finally understood what that feeling was, it was pure, unfiltered heartache.

“Ms. Rowle,” Ryan said, quickly stepping aside from the bed as soon as she walked in. His voice was thick with worry. “The first couple of days went smoothly, but Mr. Caldwell spiked a high fever in the middle of the night one day.

“We’ve tried everything, doctors, injections, meds, you name it, but nothing’s working. He just won’t get better…”

Ryan laid out every detail of Alaric’s condition, not missing a single thing.

Ophelia looked like she was listening, but her eyes stayed locked on Alaric the whole time.

He was deathly pale, completely drained of life, lying there so still it was as if he’d decided to just keep sleeping and never wake up.

Seeing Alaric like this for the first time, Ophelia felt a sharp, prickling ache spread through her chest, leaving her heart sore and tight.

“Ms. Rowle?” Ryan called her name gently when she didn’t answer.

“Let me take a look,” Ophelia said, setting her backpack down before sitting at the edge of the bed and checking on Alaric.

Her frown grew deeper, her expression turning darker by the second.

Seeing her like that, Ryan’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Is it really that serious?’ he thought anxiously.

“Who did you guys interact with after you got here?” Ophelia finally asked, her voice tense as she looked at Ryan.
