Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 462

Chapter 462

‘So calm… must mean he knows who’s pulling the strings, Ophelia thought.

“Can you cure it?” Alaric deflected, clearly not wanting to get into that topic.

“I didn’t expect you to be poisoned, so I didn’t pack any antidotes. I can only ease your symptoms for now. Once we’re back in Dunhollow, I’ll cure you for real,” Ophelia said, already whipping up a remedy to help him feel better.

As she worked, she added, “Good thing we caught it early. The poison hasn’t spread, so we’ll have it out of your system in no time.”

“Mm,” Alaric hummed softly, his eyes lighting up with a smile as he looked at Ophelia. “With you here, I know I’ll be fine.”

“You sure are confident,” Ophelia shot him a look, but she was anything but at ease.

Someone was clearly targeting Alaric, but he refused to talk about it. Ophelia couldn’t help but worry, she’d managed to save him this time, but what if it happened again? Would she be able to help him in time?

Seeing how troubled she was, Alaric reached out and, with a firm but gentle pull, sat her down beside him on the bed. “Don’ t worry. I won’t let anything happen to myself again.”

He could tell she was really worried about him.

Truth was, he’d been careless this time and got himself into trouble. But after this lesson, he’d definitely be more cautious.

Ophelia shot him a glare, clearly annoyed. “Where do you get all that confidence? Haven’t you heard you can’t guard against everything?”

‘Does he really think just being careful will stop them from trying again?’ Ophelia thought, still unconvinced.

Alaric smirked, looking all proud. “Obviously. My wife is a miracle doctor, after all,

“Oh, shut up. Who said I’m your wife?” Ophelia shot him a withering glare, yanked her hand free, and got up to fetch him

some water.

Seeing her fussing over him, Alaric raised an eyebrow.

Even though she kept arguing back, the tips of her ears were definitely turning red

“Here,” Ophelia said, shoving a pill into Alaric’s hand before handing him a glass of water.

When Alaric saw the size of the pill, his usual chill vibe cracked. He gritted his teeth and grumbled, “Ophelia, are you messing with me on purpose?”

That thing was huge, he swore Ophelia was trying to choke him.

Ophelia gave the pill a dismissive glance. “Chew it.”

Alaric looked up at her. She just stared back at him, cool as ever, but he could tell she was totally mocking him.

He had no doubt Ophelia was doing this on purpose, probably just to get back at him.

‘Fine, guess I really pissed her off this time, Alaric thought, resigned. He took the pill and shoved it into his mouth. Holding his breath, Alaric chewed the pill as quickly as possible and swallowed. Then he tipped his head back and drained the glass of water in one go, but the bitterness clung stubbornly to his tongue, refusing to fade.

“Ophelia, why does this medicine taste so terrible?” Alaric complained, looking genuinely aggrieved. ‘Seriously, even if she’s mad at me, does she have to be this ruthless?’ he thought.

“Terrible? Well, it’s medicine, it’s not meant to taste good,” Ophelia replied with an innocent shrug. She watched as his handsome face twisted from the bitterness, the corners of her lips twitching in the faintest hint of a smirk.

Alaric caught the brief flicker of a smile on her lips.
