Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 463

Chapter 463

Ryan followed her in and practically sagged with relief when he saw Alaric sitting up. “Mr. Caldwell, you’re finally awake! You’ve had a raging fever for three days straight.”

He’d been seriously worried the fever would do some real harm, so he had no choice but to call Ophelia for help.

Good thing Ophelia was here, or Alaric might not have woken up at all.

“Mm,” Alaric replied, giving Ryan a cold, hard stare that made a chill run down his spine.

‘What’s going on? Boss is seriously in a bad mood, Ryan thought, feeling a chill.

‘Did Ms. Rowle already spill the beans about the poisoning?’ Ryan wondered.

Gritting his teeth, Ryan mustered up his courage. “Sorry, Mr. Caldwell. I’ve investigated, but whoever did it covered their tracks completely. I couldn’t find out who was behind it.”

He’d rushed back because he still hadn’t found any answers, and he’d been losing sleep over Alaric’s condition.

“Whoever did this must’ve covered all their bases,” Ophelia said, her brow furrowing. ‘Definitely a careful opponent, she thought.

“How’s the project going?” Alaric cut in, changing the subject.

Ryan froze for a second, his face darkening even more. “Not good. Ever since we scrapped the old plan, we still haven’t come up with a new one that actually works.”

Time was running out. If they couldn’t pull together a solid plan soon, this whole trip to Calithra was going to end in disaster.

The room fell silent, so quiet one could hear a pin drop.

After a moment, Alaric stood up. “Call everyone in for a meeting.”

Now that his fever was gone and he’d taken Ophelia’s medicine, he felt a lot better even his energy was coming back.

Ophelia frowned, clearly not on board. “Is it really that urgent?”

Ophelia thought, ‘He just woke up. He really needs to rest.’

“Ms. Rowle, the bid meeting is in two days, and we still don’t have a solid plan,” Ryan said, exasperated.

They actually had enough time at first, but with Alaric unconscious for three days, it threw the whole schedule off.

Ophelia frowned, looking conflicted. “Just two days left?”

‘Time’s really tight. He has to get back to work, but if he does, what about his health?’ Ophelia worried.

After thinking for a second, Ophelia turned to Ryan. “I’ll stay here. If anything happens, let me know right away.”

Ryan understood and nodded quickly. “Got it, Ms. Rowle.”

He knew Ophelia was worried about Alaric and was really just telling him to keep an eye on his boss.

“Just wait for me, okay?” Alaric said with a gentle smile to Ophelia. He really hated leaving her here by herself, but he knew he had to handle business first if he wanted to come back and be with her for real.

This was a presidential suite, and they were holding the meeting in the study right next door.
