Chapter 466
Normally, they would come up with a design draft first and build the rest of the plan around it. But doing it that way just boxed in the designer’s creativity. Given the tight deadline, it was almost impossible for anyone to get it done.
While everyone was discussing, Ophelia kept her eyes on the bidding materials.
When she heard the proposal, she looked up at everyone and asked in a cool tone, “Who’s in charge of the design?” After a brief silence, a woman who looked to be in her thirties, sharp and efficient, responded confidently, “I am.” Ophelia raised an eyebrow at the woman. She definitely seemed like someone who knew what she was doing.
Of course, Ophelia figured Alaric wouldn’t keep anyone around who couldn’t pull their weight.
“How confident are you with the proposal we just discussed?” Ophelia’s gaze grew a little more serious as she weighed the feasibility of the idea.
The designer bit her lip for a moment, then said in a low voice, “I’m not confident.”
The atmosphere in the room instantly grew tense and heavy. If the designer herself wasn’t confident, then it really did seem hopeless.
Ophelia’s gaze swept over the design draft again, then she looked at the designer with a detached expression. “What if someone worked with you?”
“What do you mean by that?” The designer looked genuinely puzzled, thinking to herself, ‘Who here could possibly help me? Aside from me, no one else even knows anything about design.’
Ophelia explained calmly, “I believe you have the skills to make it happen, but the time just isn’t on our side. So let’s work together and finish the design draft tonight. Do you think you can handle that?”
“Uh… you…” The designer stared at Ophelia, clearly unsure how to even ask what was on her mind.
“You want to know why I’m so sure about this, right?” Ophelia gave a tiny, reassuring smile, one of those smiles that somehow made you feel like everything was going to be okay.
Ophelia hadn’t really said much yet, but for some reason, the designer just felt this weird sense of trust. She couldn’t explain it, but she suddenly believed Ophelia could actually do it.
“Alright.” The designer agreed without waiting for Ophelia to say anything else. “But even with both of us, we’re probably in for an all-nighter.”
They really couldn’t afford to waste a single minute.
“Alright.” A flicker of satisfaction crossed Ophelia’s eyes. ‘No wonder Alaric keeps her around, she’s seriously got skills,’ Ophelia mused.
Ophelia turned to Alaric and said, “Go get some rest, and let everyone else do the same. We’ll have the new design draft ready by tomorrow morning. The rest of the work will be up to you guys.”
After pulling an all-nighter, they’d probably be dead on their feet tomorrow anyway. Plus, the follow-up stuff didn’t really need the two of them as designers.
Alaric frowned a little, looking a bit reluctant.
He’d figured she’d just give some advice, not stay up all night and handle everything herself. ‘Isn’t that too much for her?’ he thought.
As if reading his mind, Ophelia decided right then, “Alright, that’s settled.”
After that, she called out to the others, “Everyone, go get some rest.”
“Yes,” the others replied, but then they all paused, a bit stunned, glancing anxiously at Alaric, waiting for him to speak. None of them really knew why they’d just gone along with Ophelia’s orders, just hoping the boss wouldn’t blow up and send them packing.
Alaric just gave a low, noncommittal grunt, which counted as his approval.
They looked like they’d just been granted a royal pardon, everyone quickly agreed and made a beeline for the door. Once they were out of the room, someone leaned over and whispered to Ryan, “Hey, Ryan, who is that woman? Even Mr. Caldwell listens to her.”
