Chapter 472
It wasn’t often they got to go out, and now that things were taken care of, they figured they might as well enjoy the view together.
“No,” Ophelia shook her head, her gaze growing more serious. “Let’s head back today and get ready to detox tomorrow.”
It was poison, after all. Even if it was under control for the moment, it was best to get it out of his system as soon as possible.
Seeing the worry in her eyes, Alaric gave a faint smile and nodded, “Alright, let’s go back and deal with the detox first. Next time, when we get the chance, we can go out and have some fun.”
Since she was worried about him, he couldn’t let her down, he had to get better as soon as possible.
“Mm.” Ophelia was still preoccupied with the whole detox thing, so when Alaric spoke, she just nodded in agreement.
Alaric’s eyes lit up with amusement. “You promised you’d go out with me, Ophelia. No take-backs later, got it?”
“Huh?” Ophelia finally caught on, a little slow on the uptake. ‘Well, who knows when later even is, she thought, so she just let it slide.
Alaric just smiled, said nothing more, and reached over to add some food to Ophelia’s plate. “Eat up, Ophelia.”
After lunch, the group headed back.
The city lights flickered on as evening fell.

Ophelia walked into the living room and saw her whole family gathered there.
“Ophelia, you’re back!” Victoria waved her over. “Come sit down.”
Seeing the knowing smile on Victoria’s face, Ophelia sighed inwardly to herself.
“Alaric made it back as well. Everything went smoothly, and we got things taken care of,” Ophelia summed things up simply.
She figured if she didn’t say anything, everyone would just start asking anyway, so she just told them up front.
As for the things that happened behind the scenes, she figured there was no need to make everyone worry about that.
“Is Alaric alright now?” Victoria asked, her eyes full of concern.
Back then, Ophelia had left in such a rush, Victoria had only heard it was because/Alaric had fallen ill.
Now that both of them had come back, she thought to herself, ‘He should be fine now, right?’
“Yeah, he’s already recovered,” Ophelia replied, then quickly changed the subject. “Mom, I’m tired. I’m gonna head to my room and get some rest.”

Victoria patted Ophelia’s hand and said, “Alright, go ahead. You probably haven’t gotten much rest these past few days.” After saying that, Victoria smiled at her, looking genuinely relieved.
Ophelia’s lips twitched, a little exasperated. ‘Seriously, what’s with that look on Mom’s face? She acts like she’s finally married me off and can relax now, she thought.
‘It’s not like I’m desperate or anything,’ she added to herself.
After Ophelia disappeared into her room, Victoria’s smile deepened, a look of quiet satisfaction on her face.
“Ophelia and Alaric are pretty much set now. I think it’s time we start considering their engagement party,” Victoria mused to herself, her eyes glinting with a knowing smile as she began to make plans in her mind.
“Mom, what’s the rush?” Oliver said, his eyes darkening a bit. “Ophelia’s still young. There’s no need to push her into marriage so soon.”
“It’s just an engagement, not the actual wedding. They can tie the knot when they’re older,” Victoria replied. Since the families already had an arrangement and both kids seemed happy, she figured they might as well make it official now.
After she finished speaking, Victoria suddenly sensed something was off. She glanced at Oliver, testing the waters as she asked, “What did you mean by that? Are you against Ophelia and Alaric being together?”
‘Why does it seem like Oliver doesn’t just object to the engagement, but to them being together in the first place?’ Victoria thought to herself.
Adrian, looking a bit confused, asked, “Is that it
