Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 476

Chapter 476

“Let’s go,” George said, quickly hiding the disappointment in his eyes and changing the subject before Ophelia could notice. George picked a classy little restaurant near the office, it was super quiet, with a peaceful vibe.

After they sat down and ordered, Ophelia didn’t waste any time. “I’ve skimmed through the project, and honestly, it looks good to me. Is there anything specific you want?”

“Nope,” George replied, shaking his head with a faint smile. “I’m putting it all in your hands. Whatever you decide, I’m good with it.”

On the outside, he looked calm, but there was a bitter taste in his heart.

He’d arranged all this today just to get closer to her.

But she was treating it like any other work, all serious and professional.

He already knew she was heading to Calithra for Alaric, and the thought made his chest feel tight. ‘Is she really falling for Alaric? Have I already lost my shot?’ he wondered.

Feeling a pang of bitterness, George’s expression soured a little when he glanced at Ophelia.

Ophelia noticed and asked, a bit puzzled, “You don’t look so good. Are you feeling okay?”

‘He was totally fine just a second ago. What happened?’ she wondered.

“No, it’s probably just the AC. I’ll be fine in a minute,” George said, quickly looking away, making sure she couldn’t see what he was really feeling.

Noticing George didn’t want to talk about it, Ophelia didn’t press him any further and smoothly shifted the conversation back to the project.

“Ophelia, there you are,” came a voice with a hint of complaint.

Ophelia rubbed her temples, thinking, ‘Why is Alaric here? And what’s up with that tone?’

Before she could even turn around, a shadow loomed over her, swallowing up all the light above.

She looked up, but his tall frame blocked her view, she could only make out his outline, not his expression.

“How come you’re here?” Ophelia asked, genuinely puzzled.

She didn’t think he’d show up here at all. He’d just gotten back to Dunhollow, he must have a ton of work waiting for him.

“Just grabbing lunch,” Alaric said casually, and plopped down right beside Ophelia.

Then, as if he’d only just noticed George, Alaric smirked and said in a mocking tone, “Well, look at you, Mr. Brown. Got so much free time you can wine and dine Ophelia at Rowle Group, huh?”

“We’re just talking business,” George replied, his face darkening as he struggled to keep his anger under control.

“Oh,” Alaric nodded like he got it, then sneered, “So, Mr. Brown, you’ve really fallen so far you’re messing around in showbiz

now?”

George nearly snapped. ‘Seriously? Fallen so far?’ he fumed.

“Mr. Caldwell, maybe you should rethink your choice of words. I don’t see working in entertainment as some kind of downgrade. There’s nothing low about this industry,” George replied, giving Ophelia a meaningful look. “Don’t you agree, Ophelia?”

Alaric’s face turned a shade darker, and he snapped back, “It’s not that the industry’s beneath anyone. You’ve always acted like you’re too high and mighty for these small-time deals, haven’t you?”

“Entertainment’s got plenty of big money in it too,” George said through gritted teeth, trying to keep his patience.

“Oh,” Alaric said, pretending he’d just figured it out, then turned to Ophelia. “Ophelia, this is a major investment. Everything for your project should be nothing but the best.”

Ophelia shot Alaric a look, half exasperated, half amused. ‘Seriously, what’s he playing at? Is he trying to get me to go all out and ask for the world?’ she thought.
