Chapter 478
Ophelia thought George wouldn’t bother coming in person just to oversee an entertainment project like this.
A pang of bitterness flickered in George’s heart, but he forced himself to keep it in check. “I don’t have any big projects going on lately, so I figured I’d tag along and learn from you.”
Ophelia shot George a surprised look, but didn’t turn him down. She just gave a small smile and said, “If you’ve got the time, you can come by and keep an eye on things.”
“I’m just here to learn, not to keep tabs on you. I trust you completely,” George said, his eyes full of sincerity.
“Looks like you’ve got way too much free time these days, Mr. Brown,” Alaric remarked, unable to hide the hint of jealousy in his tone.
He’d never seen a CEO hovering over a partnership project like this before.
It was clear George’s real agenda had nothing to do with business.
George turned to Alaric, the warmth in his eyes gone, his presence turning icy.
“You of all people should know if I’m busy, Mr. Caldwell,” George said, his voice tinged with frustration.
He’d only tried to make things a little difficult for Alaric before, but Alaric hit back so hard it nearly tanked all of George’s projects in Dunhollow. He had to shuffle funds from Clearwater City just to keep things afloat.
When George tried to strike back at Alaric, he didn’t expect Alaric to be ready for him. Good thing he was quick to react and cut his losses, or he’d have been the one taking the hit.
Just when George finally managed to get everything back on track and wanted to see Ophelia, Alaric showed up again. He was like a ghost that just wouldn’t leave.
George raised an eyebrow, his words dripping with implication. “I heard things haven’t been going smoothly for you in Calithra, Mr. Caldwell. Lucky for you, Ophelia stepped in just in time to steady the ship. Talk about good luck.”
He might as well have just pointed at Alaric and said he was relying on a woman to get out of trouble.
Alaric just shrugged, looking smug. “Yeah, all thanks to Ophelia for saving me. To repay her for saving my life, I’m hers now.” “Oh, and by the way,” Alaric added, acting every bit the possessive husband as he shot George a frosty look, “Mr. Brown, Ophelia is a married woman now, so please keep a respectful distance.”
George felt his temples start to throb, his expression turning even darker.
‘Did someone swap Alaric out for a doppelganger or what?’ George thought, completely baffled.
‘Is this really the same ruthless Alaric Caldwell who used to run the business world like a shark?’ he wondered.

“Can you be serious for once?” Ophelia groaned, rubbing her forehead. ‘He’s totally thrown his image out the window. What happened to the whole cold CEO vibe?’ she thought.
“You’re a real comedian, Mr. Caldwell,” George muttered, rolling his eyes. He knew there was no point in trying to argue with
Alaric.
“You’re too kind,” Alaric said with a calm smile, looking perfectly pleased with himself.
“Whatever makes you happy, Mr. Caldwell,” George replied through gritted teeth, forcing a smile. ‘This guy is going to drive me insane, he thought.
“Let’s eat. We still need to rest after this, so don’t waste Ophelia’s time,” Alaric said bluntly, basically telling George to get
