Chapter 485
Alaric gave a devilish grin, his voice low and teasing. “Hey, I think I’m still salvageable. Don’t be so cold-hearted, Ophelia.” Ophelia rolled her eyes at him, full of contempt. “I really don’t see the point in saving you.”
“Trust me, my body’s more than up to the task. I could totally satisfy all your ‘practical needs; Ophelia. If you give up on me now, aren’t you afraid you’ll regret it someday?” Alaric complained, looking all wounded and dramatic.
Ophelia was so done, she gritted her teeth and threatened, “Keep running your mouth and I’ll poison you mute.”
‘I seriously can’t deal with him. He always knows exactly what to say to make things awkward, Ophelia thought, exasperated.
‘He’s just trying to get under my skin on purpose, she grumbled to herself.
Seeing that he’d actually managed to annoy her, Alaric finally shut his mouth. But he still sidled up next to her, standing shoulder to shoulder and watching her from the side.
His stare made her uncomfortable, so Ophelia shot him a glare. Alaric instantly put on his most harmless-looking smile.” Ophelia.”
“Shut up,” Ophelia rolled her eyes. She sounded less annoyed, but she still wanted nothing to do with him.
“Ophelia,” Alaric said softly, reaching for her hand. She tried to pull away, but he wouldn’t let go. Gritting her teeth, she muttered under her breath, “Let go of me.”
“Not happening,” Alaric replied, holding on even tighter. He pressed her against the elevator wall, his eyes growing darker. “I’ m never letting you go. Not ever.”
When her eyes met his, Ophelia froze. His gaze was almost hypnotic, she couldn’t tear herself away.
Alaric’s eyes narrowed as he leaned in, his lips just inches from hers…
Ding!
Just then, the elevator arrived.
The doors slid open, and Ryan was waiting outside, all polite. “Mr. Cal,”
He was so shocked he couldn’t even finish his sentence, eyes going wide as he just stood there, totally stunned.
Ryan’s mind went blank. ‘Holy crap, what did I just walk in on?’
‘Holy crap, is it really this intense already this early?’ Ryan thought, totally stunned.
Ophelia snapped out of it, her face going bright red as she panicked and shoved Alaric as far away as she could.
Alaric was caught off guard, stumbling back a few steps before he managed to steady himself. His cold eyes shot daggers at Ryan.
Th
Ryan literally shivered, ducking his head and stammering, “I-I’ll just go make some coffee.”
With that, he spun around and dashed off.
‘Crap, I just busted the boss in the middle of something. If I wanna live to see tomorrow, I better get outta here, fast,’ Ryan thought, making a hasty retreat.
Alaric’s brows furrowed for a second, but then he turned to Ophelia, a teasing smile lighting up his eyes. “Ophelia, we’ve arrived.”
