Chapter 488
Chapter 488
“Naming a designer?” The project lead was clearly confused.
Alaric raised an eyebrow and shot the man with the black-rimmed glasses a meaningful look. The man couldn’t help but shiver, he never expected Alaric to go straight to the project lead.
“If you didn’t know about it, then let’s just forget it. So, what do you think about Maplewood Capital’s investment?” Alaric smoothly changed the subject.
“That would be amazing! We’ve been hoping for something like this,” the project lead replied, clearly excited.
“Great, someone from Maplewood Capital will be in touch with you,” Alaric said, then hung up.
After putting his phone away, Alaric shot the man with the black-rimmed glasses a frosty look. “Got anything else to say?”
He’d put the call on speaker, so everyone in the room heard every word the project lead said.
The face of the man with the black-rimmed glasses went from green to purple, and he just flicked his sleeve in annoyance, grumbling, “I was only thinking about the project! It’s obviously a win-win, but if you don’t want it, fine.”
Ophelia couldn’t help but mentally give him a sarcastic thumbs-up. ‘How does he still have the nerve to act like this after everything?’
“That’s none of your business,” Ophelia said, shooting him a look of pure disdain. “This project is definitely out of your hands now.”
She thought, ‘Why do you care if we win or not? Either way, you’re the one who lost.”‘
Hit right where it hurt, the face of the man with the black-rimmed glasses turned dark, but he still couldn’t help sneering,” So what if you know a couple of top execs?
“That’s nothing special. I’m just curious, both Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Draven seem to favor you a lot. You sure know how to play the game, don’t you?”
Ophelia’s eyes flashed with icy contempt as she shot back, “It’s one thing to be brainless, but it’s another when you just can’ t keep your mouth shut.”
Everyone in the room instantly got what he was implying.
He was basically throwing shade, hinting that she had some kind of improper relationship with both bosses.
The man with the black-rimmed glasses cocked his chin, looking all smug. “What’s wrong, did I strike a nerve? Getting all worked up because I called you out?”
“Just do everyone a favor and keep your mouth shut,” Ryan said, his eyes brimming with disdain. “You talk like you know Mr. Draven, but I bet you’ve only ever heard his name, never even seen him in real life.”
“Oh, come on. Are you seriously trying to say Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Draven are best buddies now?” the man with the black- rimmed glasses sneered, his sarcasm even thicker than before.
“Not exactly friends, Ryan said, pausing for dramatic effect before finally revealing, “They’re actually engaged. These two right here.”
Ryan just dropped the bomb about Ms. Draven’s true identity, and the Cálithra crowd went wild with shock.
“Hold up, that’s Ms. Draven?” someone blurted out.
“Wait, Ms. Draven’s a woman?” another person gasped.
“And she’s engaged to Mr. Caldwell?” someone else exclaimed.
