Chapter 489
He never would’ve guessed that this woman turned out to be Ms. Draven from Maplewood Capital.
‘So what was all that for? Was I just some clown putting on a show?’ he thought.
Seeing that he finally quieted down, Ophelia ignored him and turned to Alaric. “So, is everything settled now?”
What she really meant was, ‘Can we start the treatment now?’
“Yeah, let’s go,” Alaric said, completely ignoring the man with the black-rimmed glasses as he stood up, ready to leave with Ophelia.
“Ophelia, if you don’t want anyone else putting their name on the design, what about you? What name are you going to use?” Alaric asked offhandedly.
Ophelia thought seriously for a moment, then said, “Just put it as ‘Anonymous.””
“Anonymous?” Alaric raised an eyebrow in surprise. “I figured you’d go with Caterina.”
“No need, that’s too much hassle,” Ophelia replied calmly, giving a slight shrug. “I was just lending a hand, that’s all.”
She never planned on doing architectural design anyway, so there was no reason to put her own name on it.
“Suit yourself,” Alaric said with a shrug, just as laid-back.
They walked out of the conference room together, chatting as they went.
The other attendees trickled out one after another, and even the folks from Calithra didn’t spare a glance at the man with the black-rimmed glasses. He just sat there like he’d turned to stone in his seat, completely drained of all energy.
‘What did they just say?’ he wondered, his mind a total mess.
‘That woman is Caterina!’ he realized, his heart nearly stopped.
‘She doesn’t even need another designer’s name?’ he thought, totally floored.
‘What kind of stupid thing did I just pull on my own?’ Regret hit him like a truck.
He knew he was definitely getting fired when he got back. He could already see the writing on the wall.
‘Why did I have to go and screw myself over like this?’ he thought, feeling utterly defeated.

Inside the makeshift treatment room, Ophelia shot Alaric a look of annoyance. “Do you have some kind of grudge against him or what?”
“Nope,” Alaric replied, blinking in confusion.
One look at him and Ophelia knew she’d hit the nail on the head.
She rolled her eyes at him and asked, “Is this about that whole file leak thing from before?”
Alaric couldn’t help but smile, reaching out to gently ruffle her hair. “You’re way too smart, Mrs. Caldwell. Nothing ever gets past you.
“Yeah, we’ve already figured out what happened. He wasn’t the mastermind, but he still played a part. Everyone else got caught, and he somehow managed to slip through the cracks.
“Now he’s strutting around like he owns the place? That’s just plain stupid,” Alaric said, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
At first, Alaric hadn’t even bothered with such a useless guy. He’d let him off the hook, but the guy actually had the nerve to show up at the Caldwell Group and try to take Ophelia’s name off the project.
‘He really thinks he can get away with that?’ Alaric thought, a hint of cold amusement in his eyes.
A look of understanding flashed in Ophelia’s eyes. She realized Alaric was doing all this for her.
She gave a faint smile, her expression softening as her voice grew gentle. “Get ready for the detox.”
“What do I need to do?” Alaric asked, a bit confused.
Ophelia was busy getting the needles ready for the detox, so she just said offhandedly, “Just take off your clothes and lie down.”
She’d already set up a makeshift bed here for Alarly
