Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 490

Chapter 490

“I said take off your shirt,” Ophelia said, taking a deep breath and grinding her teeth.

“I’m just taking off my clothes,” Alaric said, matter-of-factly, like this was the most normal thing in the world. ‘Isn’t this what you asked for?’ he thought.

Honestly, he’d felt a bit lost about having to strip down completely, but he figured maybe that was just how this detox thing worked.

But now, seeing Ophelia’s expression… ‘Wait, did I misunderstand her?’ he wondered, suddenly unsure.

Ophelia finally caught on too, and in her mind, it was like a whole flock of crows flew overhead. ‘What the heck is happening right now?’ she thought, exasperated.

“I said take off your shirt, your shirt!” Ophelia repeated, stressing the word. ‘Not your pants, okay?’ she grumbled inwardly.

After a few seconds of silence, Alaric unhurriedly buckled his belt and lay down on the makeshift bed, completely composed.

It was as if that little misunderstanding had never even happened.

Ophelia gave Alaric a mental thumbs-up. ‘This guy’s got nerves of steel. No wonder he’s the big boss, she thought.

Once Alaric settled down, Ophelia quickly pulled herself together too.

She handed him a cup. “Here, drink this, it’ll help flush out the toxins.”

Alaric took the cup, knocked it back in one go, then lay down, waiting for Ophelia to get started with the needles.

After waiting a bit, Ophelia figured the medicine she’d mixed up had kicked in. She grabbed her needles, found the right acupuncture points, and started sticking them in with practiced ease.

Ten minutes later, Alaric was bristling with needles, he looked just like a porcupine. ‘If anyone walked in now, they’d probably freak,’ Ophelia thought, a little amused.

Ophelia checked her watch and said in a calm voice, “Needles come out in half an hour.”

With that, she went to sit off to the side, keeping an eye on the clock and waiting for the time to tick by.

As she sat off to the side, Ophelia found herself zoning out, just staring at Alaric without even realizing it.

She hadn’t really paid attention while she was putting the needles in, but now, with his shirt off, those abs and those defined lines caught her eye… and her gaze lingered a little too long on his belt.

‘If I’d been even a second slower stopping him, he really would’ve stripped down completely… Ophelia thought, her heart skipping a beat.

The moment that thought hit, her cheeks went hot, and she awkwardly looked away, feeling totally flustered.

But the harder she tried not to think about it, the more her mind kept circling back, and she was visibly getting more and more flustered.

“Ophelia, are you okay?” Alaric asked, picking up on her odd behavior and sounding genuinely puzzled.

‘Didn’t she say everything was fine? So why does she seem to be getting more and more tense?’ he wondered.

“N-nothing,” Ophelia mumbled, quickly turning away so Alaric wouldn’t catch how flustered she looked.
