“Get to the bottom of this,” Alaric ordered Ryan before getting into the ambulance with Ophelia.

He came here for her, but never expected to find her in danger when he arrived.

George was there too, and he’d gotten hurt as well.

“Are you alright?” Alaric asked softly, noticing she didn’t look too good.

He wasn’t sure if he’d made it in time. ‘Did she get hurt?’ he thought to himself.

Ophelia shook her head gently and said quietly, “I’m fine. George saved me.”

Alaric’s eyes narrowed for a moment, and he realized right away that George was injured because he’d protected Ophelia.

After a brief pause, Alaric asked gravely, “What happened?”

This was the Rowle Group, who’d have the guts to cause trouble right at their front door?

“Not sure yet,” Ophelia replied, her eyes turning cold. “But I know they were targeting me. And I just blew Carter’s plot wide open today.”

She could only think of one person: Carter.

What she couldn’t figure out was whether Carter was just cornered and lashed out, or if he’d had this up his sleeve from the very start.

“Carter…” Alaric frowned, trying to recall who that was.

“The Vossen family, the place I used to live,” Ophelia reminded him, her gaze icy. “He came back for revenge, but he lost everything in the end. I suspect it was him.”

“Ryan’s already looking into it. Let’s wait for the results,” Alaric said. After hearing her, Carter definitely seemed like the prime suspect now.

They arrived at the hospital in no time, and George was rushed straight into the operating room.

Ophelia was worried and wanted to wait in the hallway, but Alaric gently pulled her over to a chair and sat her down.
