Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 498

Chapter 498

But before he could even warn her, she was already in danger.

If George hadn’t been there, she would’ve been the one getting hurt, or maybe even attacked or kidnapped before Alaric or Oliver could show up.

If she’d been hurt or taken away, the consequences would’ve been unthinkable.

Carter was out for revenge, he would never have let her walk away unharmed.

Alaric caught on to what Oliver meant, his gaze icy. “So you’re saying someone’s been scheming from the very beginning…”

“They’re after more than just Ophelia, they want the Rowle Group too,” Alaric said, his tone grave as he put the pieces together.

“Yeah,” Ophelia nodded gently, then added in a low voice, “Someone who hates me and the Rowle family as much as Carter does, and Bianca’s been helping them out behind the scenes…”

A sudden realization struck Ophelia, and she snapped her head up to look at Oliver. “Oliver…” she called out, her voice tense.

“Still investigating,” Oliver said curtly, keeping it short and to the point.

But Ophelia could tell he knew exactly what she was getting at.

‘Either way, we need solid evidence before making a move, Ophelia thought to herself.

“You two stay here. I’ll go see if the cops have any new updates,” Oliver said. Maybe Carter’s side would finally give them something to work with.

Right now, Ophelia needed to keep an eye on George, he’d gotten hurt protecting her, after all.

As for Alaric, she couldn’t care less about him at the moment.

Oliver turned and walked away. He’d only come to give Ophelia a heads-up, so she’d know what to expect.

Ophelia let out a weary sigh. Right now, all she wanted was for George to be safe.

Seeing the worry etched on her face, Alaric wrapped her in a gentle hug and softly rubbed her back, trying to comfort her.

Ophelia stayed silent, her mind haunted by the image of George lying in a pool of blood…

Finally, the light outside the operating room went out.

Ophelia quickly stood up, and Alaric was right behind her. “How is he?” he asked, worry clear in his voice.

The doctor spoke quietly, “Luckily, none of the vital organs were hit, but he lost a lot of blood and is still very weak. Just keep a close watch on him while he recovers…”

“Get him the most professional caregiver you have,” Alaric said, making it clear he wasn’t taking no for an answer.
