Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 499

Chapter 499

“Alright, I’ll have the nurse take care of it,” the doctor replied before heading out.

After a while, the nurse wheeled George out, but he was still out cold.

His face was ghostly pale, and Ophelia couldn’t help but shake her head.

Just like Alaric had said, George was in pretty much the same shape as when she first treated him. He really needed some time to recover.

“Get him to a room,” Alaric told the nurse. Then, wrapping an arm around Ophelia, he lowered his voice and said, “Let’s go check on him first. There’s still stuff we need to take care of after.”

“Okay,” Ophelia nodded.

Soon, George was settled into his hospital room. Ophelia sat by his bedside.

The surgery had gone well, and George was out of danger, but he was still incredibly weak. Ophelia knew she had to start nursing him back to health right away.

After the caregiver showed up, Ophelia made sure she knew what to do, then she and Alaric headed out of the hospital together.

“Go on home. I need to head over to New City Tower,” Ophelia said, reaching out to flag down a cab.

But to her surprise, Alaric just slid into the cab right after her.

He knew exactly what she was about to do. Even though it broke his heart to see her like this, he couldn’t stop her. All he could do was stay by her side.

Ophelia shot Alaric a disapproving look, her brows furrowed. “I’m fine. You don’t need to babysit me.”

She honestly had no clue how long this would take, it might even go on all night.

“Either I’m coming with you, or you’re going home,” Alaric said, sounding more possessive than usual. “Missing one night won’t make a difference for his recovery.”

If she insisted on heading to New City Tower alone, then he’d just have to drag her home himself.

Ophelia sighed in resignation and muttered, “Suit yourself.”

That was her way of saying yes, and Alaric grinned, clearly satisfied.

The next morning, the sun was shining bright.

Ophelia was right, they ended up pulling an all-nighter.

This time, instead of brewing up a batch of herbal soup, Ophelia went ahead and made the medicine into pills for George.

Successfully unlocked!

She’d specially prepared this medicine for him, psyon.

“Thanks,” George said, a grateful smile in his eyes. “Did you two really spend the whole night making this? Both of you look like you barely slept.”

“Yeah, we pulled an all-nighter,” Alaric said quietly, his voice giving nothing away.

Seeing Alaric so calm, George let a small smile tug at his lips. “Must’ve been rough on you, Mr. Caldwell.”

It was rare to hear them talk without throwing barbs at each other.

“It’s nothing,” Alaric replied with a slight tilt of his chin. “You got hurt saving Ophelia, so I really should be the one thanking you.”

“No need for thanks,” George said, arching an eyebrow with a teasing glint. “How about you just let me have her, Mr.

Caldwell?”
