Going to Tokyo now wasn’t a planned trip, no it was a trip that was arranged last minute by my father who had news that one of our biggest investors was thinking of rethinking his mind about investing with us and going for another company, a bigger, better one which was something Lyra’s whole stunt at the last ball party caused and I being the eldest was supposed to head down there and deal with it.

I didn’t want to go because I wanted to find Denise, I hadn’t seen her since that night, and needed to know what she was doing. This was not the Denise I knew. She was content, I made her who she was, she had feelings for me, I have her everything but somehow she goes behind my back to strike a deal with Kieran my archnemesis just to shake problem up especially at a critical moment like this.

Especially now Elena was back, I was certain this was just her way of trying to cause issues, making me derail the wedding just to appease her or call it off completely.

Which was not possible but then again women in love wasn’t well known for critical thinking when jealous of other people.

The marriage between Elena and I was not only a matter of true love. It also tied our families, our businesses, together, creating revenue and money trees for everyone in the industry, it boosted the finances and made our company twice as large the presence of any smaller companies. And Denise did not have that. She was an orphan, poor, I was her only connection to the world of the elite and somehow she manages to charm Kieran Nightshade.After seeing how ridiculous this was, I realized that I might have gotten jealous over nothing.

All this with Kieran was a stunt. Kieran had someone he loves. Someone in France, I knew of her, the same way I knew of people with rich families and their lifestyles. From the gossip mill, the girl was not yet ready to settle down which was the only reason Kieran remained unmarried to now.

All those memories, all those histories, just to throw away it for one measly orphan? No that was not possible. It’s all a strategy.

Dante sighed as he pressed the elevator button as it slid open and he got in, Tokyo was chilly at this time of the year. He had to cancel a wedding shopping for dress with Elena because of this, luckily Elena had been considerate and told him not to worry that she had it covered and would call him if she needed anything.

Considerate, like I said.

If only a certain someone could be like this.

A buzz of his phone interrupted his inner monologue as he pulls it from his pocket just to see it’s his mum calling

He picked it up and placed it on his ears as he got out of the elevator heading to his room.

“Hello Mum.”

“Dante, I trust you landed successfully in Tokyo?” Her voice came out, crisp, both warm and concern filled in it.

“Yes I’m just checking in my Hotel room now, Mum” he said pressing the card key against the door as it unlocked and he entered, his bag dropping it on the nearest lounge chair and pulling off his shoes with one hand while the other is still holding the phone. “I’ll be at that meeting tomorrow soon and we can put this bad scene behind us.”

“Thank Goodness, all this bad luck started because of that girl Denise and she has caused a lot of issues for our family, we need to figure out how to do something about her. Lyra is distressed, she’s licked up in her room, refusing to eat, crashing things. It’s not right at all I’m thinking of sending her abroad for a few years so she could recover from this ordeal.

“I don’t think Lyra would agree to leave. You know how she is. She’s stubborn.”

His mum sighed a big breath filled with resignation as she said,

“Then I’ll try my best to give her the space she needs to get this into the past where it belongs.”

“She will do that. I’ll talk to her too. Right now she needs to learn that it’s best to stay quiet even when she’s in the right for asking the questions that was on everyone’s mind but was too afraid to speak out to avoid any retaliation caused by Kieran’s parents.”

“You are right. Then I’ll leave it to you.” She said ending the call as I collapsed face down on the bed groaning.

This trip was shitty and complicated and he still had his sister’s messes to take care of notwithstanding finding Denise and hearing what she wants and then being able to come to a compromise that would satisfy her.
