Carter Coleman wasn't polite at all; getting to freeload off Stella Hawthorne gave him quite a sense of accomplishment.
Stella punched him lightly and said, "Who told us to be good buddies? I have things to do, so I'm heading out. See you tonight."
"Looking forward to your badass performance tonight. Bye."
Carter watched Stella leave until her car was out of sight.
The new kid in the shop asked him, "Carter, hate to see her go that much? Is she your girlfriend? She's beautiful."
Another guy patted the new kid's shoulder and said, "You can tell you're new. Don't talk nonsense. That's Carter's good friend. They're like brothers."
Carter smiled and said, "Yeah, she's my best friend. Without her, I wouldn't be where I am today. Show her some respect from now on. You guys are in for a treat tonight; she booked us a table at the restaurant across the street. Let the others know, we're having dinner over there."
When he and Stella were in the countryside, they had the fortune of studying together for a few years. Stella had given him the money to open this auto repair shop.
If it weren't for Stella, he'd probably be dead and buried by now.
"Thanks, Carter. I'll go tell the others." The new kid ran off happily.
After leaving Carter's place, Stella planned to visit a boutique jewelry store.
Next week was Sylvie Jennings's birthday, and she had been invited to the party. She wanted to pick out a gift for her at the jewelry store.
Shirley & Co. Jewelers.
When Stella arrived, there weren't many people in the store, so the staff greeted her warmly.
She spotted a gold bracelet inlaid with five-colored gemstones. It was simple, stylish, yet elegant—perfect for Sylvie.
