Julius Blackwood was only tuning into the livestream because of Jason.
As a result, his attention was fixed squarely on his younger brother.
Even before the race officially started, he had already spotted Jason on camera.
This entire setup was clearly a trap Weber Harper had laid for Jason, and Julius wondered who his brother had managed to scrounge up to race on his behalf.
However, seeing the small-statured figure in full racing gear standing next to Jason, whispering back and forth with him, Julius guessed this must be the hired substitute.
Then he looked at the guy standing next to Weber. The man was also fully suited up, but he was built like a tank. The racer Jason had brought was noticeably smaller—could they even handle it?
Could they even push the bike to the starting line?
Anxiety gnawing at him, Julius scrutinized the small figure beside his brother a bit more closely.
Looking at them now, something felt a little off!
Why did this person's silhouette look faintly familiar?
Upon closer inspection, it wasn't hard to tell that the racer was a woman, given the distinct curve of her chest against the protective gear.
Why on earth would that reckless idiot Jason hire a woman to participate in this kind of extreme race?
And she really did give him a strong sense of familiarity. Could she actually be who he thought she was?
Uneasy, he immediately dialed Stella Hawthorne's number.
No answer.
He tried Jason's number next, but it also went to voicemail.
Neither of them was answering his calls!
Julius's suspicions continued to mount. He was becoming more and more certain that the woman in the gear was his wife, Stella.
Unable to sit still any longer, he grabbed his phone and marched out of his office.
He wouldn't have peace of mind until he saw the situation for himself.
"What's the status of the race so far?"
Julius dropped the interrogation for now, pivoting straight to the event itself.
Jason answered truthfully, "It just started. Number three is up right now. Numbers one and two already wiped out. This track is incredibly brutal; I don't know if anyone's actually going to clear it today."
"It certainly looks difficult. Which one is Weber's racer?"
"The guy in the yellow gear over there, number six."
"And what number is Stella?"
"Seven."
The moment the word slipped out, Jason realized his catastrophic mistake. It felt like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over his head, chilling him to the bone!
He stared at his brother in sheer terror. Julius was too cunning—casually chatting with him about the race to lower his guard, only to trick him into a confession.
Julius locked Jason in a death glare, his voice cold enough to freeze hell over. "Are you out of your damn mind? You actually let Stella participate in a race like this?!"
