Jason Blackwood had already been tricked into slipping up at the challenge arena once, so he was on high alert this time.

He glanced at Stella, who was sitting next to his brother, her head bowed as she played on her phone. Why wouldn't she even look at him?

Had his brother threatened her?

He needed to test the waters first so he wouldn't fall into another trap.

"Julius, what exactly did Stella tell you?"

Julius's expression darkened. "She said you were the one who asked her to go. You sent her into such a dangerous situation. If you don't give me a very good explanation right now, you can pack your bags and go mine diamonds in South Africa!"

Stella's stomach dropped. She never said that!

Julius was far too cunning. She had merely told him to ask Jason himself; she never expected him to twist it like this.

She had no idea if Jason could withstand his brother's interrogation.

But since she had promised Julius not to speak, look up, or give Jason any hints, she had to continue playing the role of a silent prop, pretending to be absorbed in her phone.

She didn't look up, completely unaware that Julius had only given Jason a fleeting glimpse of her sitting on the sofa before angling the camera so she was entirely out of frame.

Unable to see her or gauge the situation, Jason frantically analyzed his brother's words.

Julius said he was the one who asked Stella to go. Technically, that wasn't a lie.

He had discovered Stella's street racing skills at Serpent's Pass, contacted her through Nadine to bring her back to the old mansion, told her about Weber Harper, and asked for her help. And she had agreed.

So, in that sense, he really was the one who asked her. His brother wasn't wrong.

But later, when Weber changed the time, location, and format of the race, he had explained the risks to her, and she had still volunteered to help.
