"Mom, did anyone catch her name?"

Helen was practically glued to her screen, not even bothering to look up. "Yeah, your grandmother asked. She said her name is Star Todd."

Star Todd?

Never heard of her!

"Mom, I'm going to check on Grandpa." He needed to see with his own eyes if one acupuncture session had really produced the miraculous results his mother claimed.

"Go on, go on." Helen waved him off dismissively, irritated that he was interrupting her binge-watching.

Steward crossed the courtyard to his grandparents' private wing.

He found them sitting out on the patio, chatting.

Pulling up a chair next to Orville, he asked, "Grandpa, I heard someone came by to give you a specialized holistic treatment today. I just wanted to check on you. How are you feeling?"

"Steward, you're back. How do you think I look?" Orville countered, bypassing the question entirely.

Steward immediately noticed that his grandfather looked vastly more energetic. His limbs were barely shaking, and his speech was drastically clearer.

"Grandpa, you look so much better! I heard someone gave you a session earlier. It seems they're incredibly skilled."

Orville picked up his glass and took a sip of water, his mood visibly light. "Indeed, she's phenomenal. She promised I'd be fully recovered after three sessions. She's coming back in two days."

"That's fantastic! But where did you find someone with such incredible skills?" Seeing his grandfather's improvement brought Steward genuine joy, but it also stoked his burning curiosity about the "hick" even further.

Orville shook his head. "I don't know the young woman personally. I reached out to an old friend of mine who has extensive knowledge of alternative medicine, but he lives off the grid now.

The girl mentioned she was sent by a mutual acquaintance, so I'm assuming he sent her. Don't you dare look down on her, Steward. She might not dress like high society, but her talent is undeniable."
