Sabrina asked softly, "Logan, is what Ashley said true?"
"It's true. I didn't lie to you, you have to believe me." Logan's attitude was earnest, his eyes sincere.
In the past, Sabrina might have believed him. But after the incident at Ashley's birthday party, she didn't have a single shred of trust left for him.
Back in school, her teachers always praised her as a good student. Her clear-cut sense of right and wrong was her strength, and she intended to keep it that way. Her inability to judge character, however, was a flaw she desperately needed to fix.
Sabrina picked up her phone, glanced at it, and said, "Alright, I understand. Enjoy your meal. I have things to do, so I'm leaving."
After speaking, she stood up, grabbed her purse, and walked away.
"Sabrina, are you in that much of a rush? At least finish eating before you go."
Logan was somewhat dumbfounded. Hadn't she forgiven him? Why was she so eager to leave?
"We'll eat together next time. The planning director just texted saying a very important document is missing, so I need to rush back to the office right now."
"Alright, drive safe."
After Sabrina left, Ashley poured Logan a glass of juice and said, "See, I told you. She likes you so much, she was bound to forgive you."
"We can't appear in front of her together anymore, lest she gets suspicious again."
"I know. Let's wait until I've completely coaxed her and dispelled all her doubts."
Logan thought about it and said regretfully, "She just said what she wanted to say, but I hadn't even gotten to what I wanted to tell her. I forgot to mention the Sherwood Group contract."
"What's the rush? She's forgiven you, so the contract will be yours sooner or later. It's not going anywhere."
"True. I'll call her later. I'm starving. Come on, let's eat and forget about her for now."
The two happily ate together. What Ashley didn't know was that after this meal, she'd be eating her next one in a very different place.
