Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 222

Stella casually placed the invitation back on the table and let Julius pull her to her feet, replying to his comment, "It won't. The dining table has a built-in warming feature."

The smart home system made life incredibly convenient and elevated their standard of living flawlessly.

Julius must have put a lot of thought into the renovations for this place.

From the color palette of the walls and floors to the choice of curtains and the arrangement of the furniture, everything was perfectly suited to her taste.

Later on, she had added a few of her favorite decorative pieces, making the entire house feel even warmer and more comfortable.

All in all, she loved living at the Imperial Gardens.

...

The day of the Niche Perfume Salon.

Stella accompanied Julius to the ninth floor of the Golden Tripod Hotel.

The ninth floor housed a high-end luxury banquet hall specifically designed for exclusive corporate galas.

It was a highly sought-after venue, primarily because of its impeccable hospitality and flawless service.

As they arrived at the ground-floor lobby, they unexpectedly ran into Rhoda Ford.

Rhoda was dressed in a pristine white evening gown, clinging to the arm of a man.

Stella glanced at the man. He looked lethargic, his complexion was sallow, and his eyes were sunken—classic signs of a man who partied entirely too hard.

Who else could it be but Weber Harper?

When did Rhoda get involved with him?

Or were they an item to begin with?

If so, why did Rhoda always try so hard to suck up to those wealthy socialites? The Harper family was plenty rich on their own.

He glanced back at the woman clinging to his arm. How dared she call that gorgeous woman a country bumpkin? Rhoda wasn't even half as pretty as her.

To let a 'bumpkin' bully her just proved how utterly useless Rhoda was.

But since the woman belonged to Julius, stealing her away would give him bragging rights for a long time. Plus, it would absolutely infuriate that bastard Jason.

Having made up his mind, he lowered his voice and said to Rhoda, "Come on, let's go say hello."

He just wanted an excuse to talk to the beauty, to make his presence known and leave a lasting impression so he could make his move later.

The two of them strolled over to Julius and Stella.

Stella kept her expression completely neutral, pretending not to notice them marching purposefully in her direction.

She had actually spotted Rhoda and Weber whispering conspiratorially moments ago and figured the two of them were brewing up some sort of trouble.

She decided to simply wait and see what they would do.
