Byron raised his hand and slapped his wife hard across the face. "You idiot! Why didn't you discuss this with me first? Did you really think Julius Blackwood would be that easy to fool?
He turned the Blackwood Group into the empire it is today. Do you think he's weak? Our families had a solid relationship, and thanks to your meddling, it's completely destroyed."
Seeing her mother get struck, Yvonne jumped in front of her to shield her. "Dad, this was all me! It was my idea! Don't hit Mom!"
Byron didn't hesitate to slap Yvonne across the face as well, cursing, "You've been spoiled rotten your whole life, and you never use your brain! There are a hundred ways to win Julius over, and you chose to drug him in our own house? You fool!"
He didn't deny that he agreed with what Yvonne had said that afternoon. He absolutely wanted Julius to be his son-in-law.
He desperately wanted the Jeter family to climb the social ladder using the Blackwood name.
But he didn't want it done with such a pathetic, sloppy tactic!
Yvonne had never been hit by her father before. The slap shattered her composure, and she wailed, "Dad, you actually hit me?"
Byron glared at her with pure disgust. "Who else am I supposed to hit? I've never seen someone so utterly brainless. After what happened tonight,
the relationship our family spent years building with the Blackwoods is officially over. If you don't believe me, just wait and see.
Julius will retaliate against us soon enough. If the Jeter family falls because of you two, I will never forgive you."
With a violent flick of his wrist, Byron stormed off upstairs, refusing to look at his wife and daughter for another second.
So this whole dinner was a premeditated trap they had set up without breathing a word of it to him. Did they even respect him at all?
If they had just consulted him, his methods would have been infinitely smarter than whatever these two idiots came up with.
Now the damage was done. Julius looked polite on the surface, but underneath, he was ruthless and would do whatever it took to destroy his enemies.
They had tried to play him during a family dinner. He would absolutely hold a grudge.
If they had actually succeeded tonight, it wouldn't be completely terrible—at least they would have leverage to negotiate with Julius.
"Boss, what's up?"
"Jason, is Stella at your bar?" he asked, cutting straight to the chase.
"No. I went back to the Manor tonight to have dinner and take a walk with Grandma, and then I headed straight to the bar. I haven't left, and I haven't seen her. Boss, did you guys have a fight or something?"
"No fight. I went to the Jeters' tonight, and Yvonne actually tried to drug me. I'm fine, but I got home and Stella isn't here, so I called you."
Hearing this, Jason's voice filled with panic. "Boss, something bad happened to the Eames family. Ian's sister, Cecilia, went missing last night, and they still haven't found her.
They already went to the police. Ian even called me asking for help. If Stella is missing too, do you think something horrible happened?"
Cecilia Eames was missing? Julius instantly remembered Stella being tailed the day before. A heavy wave of dread hit him.
"Jason, do you know any of her other friends? Reach out to them immediately. I'm incredibly worried about her. She was being followed just yesterday."
